How quickly the Summer has passed my friends!😊
It seems like just yesterday, that the Silvertop Family was enjoying a train ride on 104 year old engine number 70, pulling a half a dozen passenger cars!🤗
“Liz I just confirmed on Chat GPT that the Mt Rainier Scenic Railway, is restoring another Engine, they expect it to be back in service this year!”😇
“Chat GPT tell everyone about this new addition to the Scenic Railway!”😊
“Silvertop…….the railroad is restoring Porter No. 5, an enormous 1924 Porter-built 2-8-2 that previously served as the railroad’s workhorse for more than two decades.
The Porter had been out of service for years, and the current restoration involves major boiler, running gear, and mechanical work. The railroad says it is being returned to operation in 2026 after decades away from service.
So you happened to visit at a fascinating time: the railroad is really in the middle of a renaissance!”

Maybe this time when the train arrives in the old town of “Mineral”, we might get to disembark. They have been talking about opening it up with shops, and maybe even a restaurant for a lunch break!
If you recall from a previous post, the town of Mineral is the epicenter for “Project blue book”, and the UFO “Flap” that occurred back on June 24 1947, when Pilot Kenneth Arnold spotted nine bright objects in the sky!😮

When we ride the train again, we will be sure to snap lots of photos, both in the sky, and in the Forest!☺️
