2021 Niue Silver Icons of Inspiration: Galileo
Galileo Galilei was an Italian mathematician, physicist, and astronomer, born in Pisa in early1564. He is one of the innovators in scientific history making unusual and irregular observations with permanent implications in Physics.
In 1609, Galileo used his mathematics knowledge and technical skills to construct a telescope. He became the first person to look at the Moon through a telescope and make his first discovery in astronomy.
Obverse: Famed astronomer and physicist Galileo Galilei holding a refracting telescope, one of his most famous innovations, alongside a globe and the moon. A rendition of his signature is below.
Reverse: a triumphant image of a muse, arm extended toward the sun, with the seal of the nation of Niue, the $5 face value, and the date.
These are first releases of the new series of coins celebrating famous Icons of Inspiration through history. It features Galileo and Da Vinci.
The one on the left, that of Galileo, is proof-like and is graded as Brilliant Uncirculated with a denomination of $5.
The one on the right, that of Da Vince, is also graded Brilliant Uncirculated with a denomination of $2. It has a satin finish.😍#ilikeitalot!😍

Thanks for the rehive and the PIZZA, @pixresteemer!
Wow very nice you got this coin fast. I remember our discussion about this coin on your Da Vinci post. Awesome pick up, both of them are very detailed coins and great assets for your stack.
Hehe 😁
I negotiated a great price for this.
When buying in Ebay, do no hesitate to negotiate.
Thank you for the tip, @maddogmike! I owe you one!

I think I'd prefer the Proof like finish if I had a choice, photographs better too. Lovely design Obverse of the Muse too. Looks like a smart buy Sis!
Always smart and with love 🤗 🌺 💖

I like both! They both have their merits.
And I like the over-all design, especially of the muse!
I wonder who is next to be featured in this series?
Hugs and Kisses sis 🥰🌺🤙!!!
Both are very nice coins.
Is there any reason to denote the coins as $2 or $5 when the cost of the coin is obviously more than that? I never really understood that aspect.

I never understood either, haha 😂
They are nice coins!

What an awesome coin, I was fascinated by Gallileo as a teen and still to a degree am so its a coin I would love to have
Have a great day
I knew you would be fascinated by Galileo.
You are one who uses the advances that he contributed ...
all the lenses, @tattoodjay!
Exactly 👍🙂👍
I know who Galileo was and what he did, but every time I hear the name Bohemian Rhapsody starts playing in my head. xD Nice coins though.
Hehe 😂
Thanks, @rarej.
You made me chuckle!
supercool
Yeah... cool, huh?!
Thanks for checking this out, @tommyl33!
Keep your arms inside the car — saver is on a tear!
Nah, just my usual stuff!!!
CHEERS, @thedamus!
This is a beautiful collection especially the Galileo Galilei one. Does the satin finish is similar to the matte finish? It's a good collection, love both of them.
Me too! I love both of them.
I wonder what they will come up with next year?
Yes, the satin finish is similar to matte finish.
The reason why it is called satin finish (and not matte) is that it is still very shiny and that you can see the "cartwheel" effect on the surface. I believe the matte doesn't.
I hope that makes sense, hehe 😄😁
Thanks again for showing and sharing the fine Niue Silver coins, SILVER SAVER - @silversaver888. Niue's quality & fineness has really been embarrassing, some of the other, Mints, Artists & management, lately. Looks like Niue's professionals are putting a lot of though into their Coins. Politicians screw it up again.
For sure they are, @cve3!
I am liking silver made by them.
All outstanding!
They are both very nice, but I tend to prefer the mirror finishes to the satins. Thanks for sharing the coins sis!
I don't know why they have two finishes, and two denominations.
Diversity! Plus, one might appeal to one collectible market and the other to another.🌸🤗😘💕
Simply stunning @silversaver888, very fine detail on this 5 Dollar Silver coin from the Nation of Niue!🤗
There are so many famous men and women considered icons of inspiration!
I suppose this series is the one they will have for a long period of time!
I agree, and the quality of this minting is top quality @silversaver888, a good addition to your stack!😀
