Go Fund Me shows absolute power corrupts absolutely, and demonstrates the abusive control Web 2.0 platforms possess and why Web 3.0 is necessary.

Go Fund Me shows that they think we are human cattle whom they can bleed at will like Vampires!

  • Recently Canadian Truckdrivers have been protesting their countries Covid policies.

  • They started raising money to feed and provide support for protesters using a popular Web 2.0 platform called Go Fund Me.

  • In typical Web 2.0 fashion all control and power is held by the platform owners.

  • And in keeping with their absolute control over accounts the administrators of the platform decided they didn’t agree with these protesters and they would seize the funds donated by hundreds of people to support these truckers and give it to charities they deemed worthy.

When I read about this incident I couldn’t believe it.

  • It is such an extreme example of centralized platform abuse, that it feels like they want people to flee centralized platforms!

  • This incident is such a good advertisement for what is wrong with centralization that I almost though it was a false flag event.

  • But then I realized that perhaps it is as an excellent example of absolute power corrupting absolutely.

  • It makes me wonder if GoFundMe is so rich and powerful that they could get away with this and social media wouldn’t pick up on this?

  • Which showed how out of touch with reality they are and completely unaware of how social media works?

What do you think?

I think it’s time for the world to know that cryptocurrency fixes this!

They've certainly driven a lot of people to Bitcoin.

I agree that blatant abuses like this push people to find alternatives, and once you find Bitcoin you may never let go!

It's indeed an annoying scenario. Why freeze something you don't own. It's a clear indication of how centralization sucks.

Exactly, we couldn’t ask for a better example of why centralization needs to be committed to the dust bin of history.

I guess people are knowing better, from the various unpleasant experiences, as the day passes by. Sooner than later, more people will come to the knowledge of the benefits of decentralized entities and patronize them more than the centralized ones.

It's the issue with any centralized agency and gofundme has had issues even before this. So I don't know why they even decided to go with gofundme as their donation provider. Then again, givesendgo is having a hard time after it got hacked. I guess the only thing that hasn't been compromised is the crypto donations.

This is incredible, but apparently not widely known, but they did it to the wrong group, at the wrong time. I hope they are now re-evaluating their policies.

I fully understand refunding part of it that happens all the time. What I didn't like and seemed hugely wrong was them saying we are going to keep your money and donate it somewhere else. WTF is that crap haha It's good to see people stand up for their rates and start taking back some control and it looks like more and more are realizing that crypto is the answer.
