MARKET FRIDAY; GRINDING SERVICE

avatar

#Marketfriday as initiated @dswigle. Thank you for this wonderful initiative.
Today I would like to share with the rest of the world another means of livelihood adopted in my country. Rendering grinding service to people is quite lucrative if you strategically place your shop. The business involves helping people to grind any foodstuffs that needs to be changed into powdered form or blended. for example guinea corn, millet, corn, dry yams, pepper, beans e.t.c especially if it is in large quantity that cannot be grinded with a blender or kitchen grinder. Most of the grinding machine used uses petrol to run because of unstable electricity supply in this part of the world. The higher the quantities of what you want to grind, the more the charges. I have often patronize this people whenever I need to grind my baby's guinea corn to make pap or I need to make stew from blended tomatoes and pepper.
Today I went there to grind beans for making moin-moin also known as Nigerian bean pudding made from mixture of washed and peeled beans, onion and fresh bell pepper, scotch bonnet or chili pepper. It's very rich in protein.

I decide to have moin -moin tomorrow morning with pap and I Washed the beans and peeled it and add the other ingredients then I took it for grinding.

Since the quantity of the beans isn't much, I paid little amount of money.I paid #50 which is about 100cent. Still cooking my moin-moin on the stove though to be enjoyed later.

Being a while I used this service.. Glad it still exist, thought the used of blender would run down their business.

Not at all. Infact more people run the business now especially retired people on pension. Like I said in the post, electricity is not stable and large quantity of whatever can not be grinded using blender

What a great service, and even though blenders are in high use, the power is so unpredictable, that I would probably go back to use this. Have you noticed that we are going back to our grandparents' days in the way we do things? With the prices high, we scrutinize what we buy more than ever.

I bake more and do more things myself as opposed to hiring it out. I agree with you on this - this is an excellent service that they provide! Enjoy your moin-moin!!

Thank you for being part of #MarketFriday! I am honored.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
