Hello everyone❣️, I hope you are well, today I come to talk about my Vegvísir, and how I decided to get it tattooed, besides explaining what it is and what it means.
Creo que se deben imaginar que este símbolo está asociado a lo Vikingo, si lo pensaron pues sí, están en lo correcto, es una brújula vikinga, pero ¿Por qué me la tatué? ¿Qué significa? Ya les responderé eso haha.
I think you must imagine that this symbol is associated with the Viking, if you thought so, yes, you are right, it is a Viking compass, but why did I get it tattooed? What does it mean? I'll answer that haha.
Cuando tenía 15 años estaba obsesionada con todo lo Vikingo y de alguna forma siempre lo he estado, también con la edad media y la toda la historia que conforma esa época, y por supuesto, la mitología nórdica, los países escandinavos y toda su historia me apasiona.
When I was 15 years old I was obsessed with everything Viking and somehow I always have been, also with the Middle Ages and all the history that makes up that era, and of course, Norse mythology, Scandinavian countries and all its history I am passionate about.
Debo decir que cuando vi el símbolo por primera vez, a los 15 años, no sabía que significaba simplemente lo vi y dije, tiene que estar en mi piel, fue una especie de atracción directa hacia el. Pero, no me iba a tatuar algo sin saber cuál era su significado así que decidí estudiarlo, y buscar más acerca de este.
I have to say that when I saw the symbol for the first time, when I was 15 years old, I didn't know what it meant, I just saw it and I said, it has to be on my skin, it was a kind of direct attraction to it. But, I wasn't going to get something tattooed without knowing what it meant so I decided to study it, and search more about it.
Lo primero que encontré es que habían dos símbolos similares, pero con significado diferente.
The first thing I found is that there were two similar symbols, but with different meanings.
El Vegvísir es conocido por ser una brújula vikinga y un símbolo de protección, sin embargo esta brújula fue mencionada por primera vez en el grimorio islandés Galdrabók que data alrededor del año 1600 este símbolo fue mencionado también en el Manuscrito de Huld En dichos libros también se menciona el Aegishjalmur.
The Vegvísir is known to be a Viking compass and a symbol of protection, however this compass was first mentioned in the Icelandic Galdrabók grimoire dating from around 1600 this symbol was also mentioned in the Manuscrito de Huld In these books the Aegishjalmur is also mentioned.
El Aegishjalmur también proviene del grimorio Galdrabók, sin embargo su significado es diferente, según explican, este era el símbolo del terror, utilizado en las guerras para atemorizar al enemigo.
The Aegishjalmur also comes from the grimoire Galdrabók, however its meaning is different, as explained, this was the symbol of terror, used in wars to frighten the enemy.
Después de investigar el significado del Vegvísir y de como era asociado como amuleto de la suerte para los viajes, me enamoré mucho más de sus significado, ya que, me encanta viajar ¿a quién no?. Pero aún era menor de edad, así que esperé a tener 18 años, y aún habiendo pasado algunos años, seguía con todas las ganas de tatuarmelo. Así que unos meses después de cumplir 18 ya había ahorrado para eso así que fui con mi madre, y me lo tatué.
After researching the meaning of the Vegvisir and how it was associated as a lucky charm for travel, I fell even more in love with its meaning, since I love to travel, who doesn't? But I was still a minor, so I waited until I was 18, and even after a few years, I still wanted to get it tattooed. So a few months after I turned 18 I had already saved up for it, so I went to my mother and got it tattooed.
Fue un día bastante especial para mi, porque llevaba tiempo queriéndolo, sin embargo, con el tiempo se puso un poco feo así que el año pasado me lo retoqué y volví a sentir la alegría de tenerlo haha.
It was a pretty special day for me, because I had been wanting it for a long time, however, over time it got a little ugly so last year I had it retouched and felt the joy of having it again haha.
Es realmente bonito tenerlo, sin embargo, mi padre sigue diciendo que me tatué un montón de rastrillos en el brazo 🤣🤣 así que suelo hacer bromas con eso cuando me preguntan qué significa.
It's really nice to have, however, my dad keeps saying I got a bunch of rakes tattooed on my arm 🤣🤣 so I usually make jokes with that when they ask me what it means.

Estuvo bueno ese chiste de tu papá, se ve que tiene sentido del humor, por un momento pensamos que quizás estaba enojado.
Es bueno conocer tus gustos Vikingos y un poco más sobre este tema, también felicidades por no solo hacerte un tatuaje por que sí o por estar a la moda, si que investigaste y es referente a algo que te gusta desde pequeña o adolescente.
