SIGNING OUT IN GRAND STYLE

avatar

Hello everyone, I hope you have all been doing well. It has been a while since I have been active due to my academics, which have been difficult, and now I realize I should have handled it better. I tried, but it's not for the faint of heart; constant effort prevents constant excuses. I admire my bosses @starstrings01 and @josediccus for balancing education with their blog; you guys are doing an outstanding job!
On Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, I graduated and attended the signing out ceremony. I had no intention of attending, but my friends persuaded me to do so. Throughout the journey, God!! in the beginning, God!! as I progress, and God!! at the end!!

Signing out is a ceremony performed by graduating students at a higher education institution to commemorate their last day as a student. It's done right after their last paper, when most students put on a white top to allow friends, colleagues, fellow students, instructors, and well-wishers to sign their shirts with a marker. I will proceed by telling you about my experience as a graduate.

LET'S START FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

When I was accepted to Yaba College Of Technology (YABATECH), I thought everything would be easy. That was until my first day on campus, when the stress was unbearable, with a crowded environment and difficult lectures from the lecturers. Before I could get a room in the school hostel, I had to go from home, which should take around 45 minutes drive, but Lagos traffic may take up to an hour and a half, and sometimes even two hours. Most of the time, I had to get up at 5 a.m., get to school before 9 a.m., leave school by 4 p.m., and arrive home between 9 and 10 p.m. Doing this Monday through Friday was more than stressful. I didn't have time to read because of the stress, and I even wished for the world to perish, but today "life is good."

ON CAMPUS, MY FAVORITE LOCATION

The library is my favorite area on campus; I enjoy there since it is calm and has few interruptions.

I had three roommates on campus who may be a pain at times, so I just go to the library to avoid any conflict. I also go straight to the library anytime I want to read a lot. I have a special location there where no one bothers me except during examination periods; if you're looking for me and I'm in the library, just go there and you'll find me.

CHALLENGES

My biggest problem on campus is that the library and classrooms aren't open late enough for me to read at night. Because the library closes at 6 p.m. and classes end at 8 p.m., I have to cut corners by asking the security guards for permission to read at night. Some will agree, but most will demand payment. It's one thing to desire to read, but it's quite another to locate a location to read. Because of the noise, distractions, and my bed's constant urge to sleep, reading in my hostel is hard for me. Other factors include a lack of electricity and severe mosquito bites.

COLLEGE HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO ME.

I met a lot of folks on college, but @k-banti and Christian stand out as great individuals. @k-banti has always been one of a kind, proving to be a fantastic friend and the nicest person I've ever met. Christian, on the other hand, was my campus adviser, constantly offering me sound counsel and displaying genuine affection.

THESE ARE THE LESSONS I LEARNED ON CAMPUS.

I learned to always be pleasant to everyone around me and to enjoy myself since what we do now will become memories tomorrow.

ON CAMPUS NICKNAME

"001" was my nickname on campus. Because my matriculation number ended in "001," I was given this moniker. I didn't like it when they called me that, but I eventually got used to it.

WHAT I WISH I HAD DONE MORE EFFECTIVELY

Most of my friends are my course mates, thus I'd like to make new friends outside of my departments. And perhaps to have a relationship on campus; unfortunately, I did not have a girlfriend during my entire tenure on campus.

ACHIEVEMENT

I was able to do well in my studies in the limited time I had, I didn't have to redo any courses, I didn't implicate anyone or been caught for malpractice, I served as the course representative for four separate courses and my colleagues and I all did well in the course, and many other things.

APPRECIATION

First and foremost, I thank God Almighty for his guidance, protection, and all of his blessings; second, I thank my parents for their provision, prayers, encouragement, and support; and third, My brothers and sisters, for their love and concern, and my friends, for creating amazing experiences and making academics simple. In addition, I am grateful to all of my lecturers and well-wishers.

This was a nice read. Congratulations on your graduation!

It looks like you have learned a lot through your school journey and have figured out some things you would probably have done differently. I can imagine how frustrating it was wanting to read but not having the location, comfort or lighting that you needed.

I’m glad you enjoyed the shirt signing as it seems it is a deserved ceremony for those who accomplished their work. It’s great you had a few people in your corner because that helps when we face challenging times.

I’d like to introduce you to the Daily Blog Community where you can share about special events and occasions just like you did for your graduation.

The OCD community is for general topic posts that do not fit in any of the other communities.

Thanks for sharing your achievement with us ~
