My Covid19 Confinement Experience part 2

Good day guys!
Here's the continuation of the first part of my confinement experience

The third day was my most anticipated day because they were going to remove the hep lock from my hand.
My day always starts with a nurse coming inside my room taking my vital signs, asking how I feel and asking about my water intake and urine output. The nurse would also bring me my breakfast. And then a resident doctor would come in auscultate my chest and also asked if I felt any new symptoms.

This was the food that they served me for breakfast. I thought it would be a meal with rice like the one during the second day but I was disappointed that I got spaghetti and bread and the portion was only small.

At least it came with an apple. But I was really puzzled with what they have been serving for breakfast for the past days.

image.png
This was my last time taking antibiotics thru an IV. But it got complicated during the last day because the fluid wasn't dropping and it would depend on my hand position. I also found a way where it would drop and it was when I pressed down on the site of the catheter. The whole time I was just in a constant position, pressing it down and looking at it drip, and it was tiring.

The nurse finally came in and flushed it with water and then removed the hep lock. The feeling was really great because I could move my hands freely now.

This was what they served for lunch. When I saw it it was like a compensation for the breakfast that they gave during the morning.

In this meal they gave cauliflower, barbecued pork chop, rice, soup and watermelon. It was really a complete meal and I enjoyed eating the pork chop because of its sauce.

After lunch my sister in law came in and told me that I'll be taking my antibiotics through tablets. My brother also gave these fruits. I remember when I chatted him he asked if I received his special gift which was the calamansi / Filipino Lemon. I was thinking what will I do with that?

I removed the cotton and the tape from my hand and I was so bored so I took my macro lens and started taking photos. I thought that I would see a deep hole from it.

I didn't expect that I would lose this much blood from the hep lock that they removed.

Just looking at the macro image makes it look so cool. It's really nice looking at the details of the cotton fibers

Dinner came and this was what they served. I was able to eat calamares with some veggies. They even added extra rice to go with it. During this day, I'm still weirded out that I didn't have the sense of smell. It really sucked that everything smells like nothing wherein you couldn't distinguish a minty and a sweet smell. One thing that I also hated was the congested nose wherein my left and right nostril would take turns on what's going to be blocked.

The next morning, I already got used to the routine. As soon as I hear someone knock at my door. I put on a mask as soon as possible. What I really didn't like was waking up so early just for them to take my vital signs. But I couldn't do anything about that. This was the breakfast that they served. The hot dog what they gave me was so cute, they just sliced one in half. I usually eat more than 2 when I was at home. At least there was a hard boiled egg to compensate and the fruit salad. It was just a typical day, where nothing happened. All I did was taking photos of the food that they served me

On the next day, when my sister in law visited me she gave me a pack of crinkles and milk.

image.png
She actually baked it. It was really good. It had a minty after taste also.
image.png
I was surprised with the straw of the milk. It came with a paper straw. I commend the company for doing their part to reduce the usage of plastic,

I noticed that my wrist was bruising. It reminded me of the ABG test where they had to extract the blood from there. That was one of the most painful extractions of blood that they have ever done to me. I'll never forget that I was shaking when the nurse was extracting blood from there.

On the 29th of September. I got reswabbed for COVID 19. They wanted to see the CT Value of the virus whether I'm infectious or not. I got swabbed on my throat and my nose. The institution asked me to pay 5000 pesos or that's around 104.12 United States Dollars for my swab. I was kinda shocked because I was a HCW there and i thought that they would cover it for me but they didn't. A good thing was that I was able to bring cash with me before leaving my house. After that I ate breakfast. It was a great breakfast. I missed the taste of Rambutan. Before the day ended. They told me that I was still positive for covid and that I was super infectious that time. I'm really glad that I isolated, I can't imagine giving this to my other family members especially my grandparents.

On the 30th
The only highlight that I got in this day was that I signed a waiver that they would give me a dose of remdesivir.
image.png
The initial dose was a lot. I had to drink this 9 tablets. I'm surprised that there was so many. This came from the friend of my Doctor. I was hoping that when I drink this, it would help me recover faster.

I shall continue writing this in the future.

Thanks for reading and Stay safe always!

Whenever I read your recount of everything that happened to you during your hospitalization, I keep reminding myself that you've already recovered because I feel really terrible that you had to go through all these. That swab test was really expensive! And man, that 9 tablets!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the hospital, and for having a sense of humor while telling the story.

Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. A happy new year too. :)

I'm just really lucky that it didn't hit me hard. But staying in the hospital for 14 sucked so bad haha. But it also taught me the importance of people who will always be there to support you.

You're most welcome! I hope that you won't experience it

May you and your family have a Healthy Happy New Year too! May you guys continue to be blessed
