The Sock-Away in My House

(Edited)

Our Soak-Away has been dug, casted and set by the bricklayers, even the carpenter has erected the structure needed for it to be casted, but the man I contacted to cast it gave me too much a bill that I told him not to bother again.

So today I had some guys in my neighbourhood who has been at home for some times now because of ASSU Strike, so I contacted them to help me out with it. Since I had a fore-knowledge of how to do it. So they came around and we started the work.

We got some Sharp Sand from culvert outside the gate, left over Granite from previous work in the compound, 4-bags of Cement, couple with tools like Shovel, Hand Trowel, Wheel Barrow, Buckets e.t.c

A fixed proportion of Sharp Sand was mixed with 3-bags of Cement, after which Granite was added on the mixture, then water is applied to get a Concrete pasted to be used.

The concrete from above was poured into the structure made for it with the use of bucket, then I used an iron pipe to even it out well.
Then raw Cement was sprinkled on the concrete in order to make it stronger and with use of an hand-trowel to smoothen the cement into the concrete.

Having skills and knowledge of how to repair or construct things will actually save you some cost. Although some things require specialists (like performing surgery 😅) other things can be handled efficiently if you know how to do it.

Great work 👏

Thanks, that's true, it's not everything we can't do on our own, such things are better given to a specialist
