Slow start

We drove and met my parents to go out fishing and play on the river on saturday. It took us a little bit longer to get there because of all the fog but we still left about 6 in the morning and got there right at 7:30.

A bit longer because it was a really foggy morning, and I had to drive slower than normal on much of the drive. It was so foggy that when we got to the cabin, we were fogged in and couldn't even go out fishing because we couldn't see where we were going or there any other boat in the way.

We were able to start at 9:00 a.m. and just started off in the lake where we didn't have to go very far or fast. Who thought we'd fish these spots until the fog finished and we would go off and see what else we could catch.

I had no idea we would catch this many epic fish in such a small spot. We really seem to be honed in on a great spot and a school or two of fish. But as soon as the fog lifted and the sun came out around 11:30 they all seem to move towards deeper water.

Take a look at this haul. These are the biggest perch I think I've ever caught in my life, and I didn't even catch the biggest ones. My son caught the first one and the biggest one, followed by my dad and myself both catching a couple of nice ones.

I was lucky to snag third or fourth biggest perch, and the biggest sunfish. But most of the perch damage was done by the other two of the boat and not me. For some reason I just couldn't seem to get a bite.

I thought for sure I was about to break the record and catch a monster perch when I actually landed this ugly thing. So I instead tossed it back and tried again.

After lunch knee boarding

We took the kids to a beach and tried to knee board and ski for the first time. It was too rough out to get them up on skis, but they crushed the knee boarding.

perfect summer day.

It was a great summer day, killed the fishing, played at the beach, did some water sports, had a fish fry went home tired and slept well. I know I won't get many more of these this year, but the few that I will are always a blast and make me appreciate the good times and good weather.

Hope you all had a great weekend!! --@senstless
