Hail to the Hive!

To be close to the ocean is a wonderful and powerful feeling. To be close to an ocean boiling and angry can be either exhilarating or terrifying depending on your vantage point. Luckily when we visited Sennen Cove, close to Lands End, we were viewing from a safe place and just as well as it looked if not angry at least slightly miffed!

Strolling around the place, after a nice cup of coffee, I soied the breakwater and was admiring the look of the waves crashing against it and pouring over it’s defenses. It was doing an admirable job to be fair.

White foam spilling over the fortified defence and the booming pounding noise of the waves relentlessly crashing against it, never giving up, never getting tired. Powerful stuff.

I must have spent an hour wandering back and forth, sometimes staying in one llace pariently waiting for a really big wave to crash. After a few minutes I would walk to another vantage point and BOOM! A big one would hit and I’d miss it. After this happened 4 times I began to get a little paranoid that the sea was fucking with me….. hmmmmmm

But I was enjoying the moment, enjoying taking the shots and chatting with those I had come here with, enjoying the smells, spray and feel of it all. So good to be by the ocean again, I love it.

As I snapped away I knew the stone, sea, foam and sky would all lend themselves to some decent monochromatic magic, and this also made me smile. It’s been somgood this week to get back tomposting and get back in the monomad saddle again.

And then just as we were about to depart I caught a shot from a different angle at the same time as the boom and crash as spray flew up. Not the biggest but I like the shot and it felt like the sea was saying ‘ there you go, thats for you. But thats all you are getting, now be off with you!’
