Hello, today I bring this piece that if I remember correctly I made it at the end of last year for an art contest, I never dared to upload it because since I didn't win it, well, I don't know, I felt insecure about it and I just left it there as another contest that was not successful; Today, reviewing my work, I found it, and taking another look at it, it turned out quite well. Of course, there are things that my skills did not allow me to do better (such as lions), but since my strength is really the human figure and everything related to it, well I realized that there are many things to work on and progress.

Hola, hoy traigo esta pieza que si mal no recuerdo la hice a finales del año pasado para un concurso de arte, nunca me animé a subirlo porque como no lo gané pues, no sé, me sentí insegura al respecto de ello y solo lo dejé allí como otro concurso que no tuvo éxito; Hoy revisando mis trabajos lo encontré, y dándole otro vistazo quedó bastante bien, por supuesto hay cosas que mis habilidades no dieron para hacerlo mejor (como son los leones) pero, como realmente mi fuerte es la figura humana y lo relativo a ello, pues me di cuenta que hay muchas cosas por las cuales trabajar y progresar, pero espero cumpla con las expectativas de esta comunidad jajaja.

The concept of the contest was religious, taking as its main theme the passage from the Bible that talks about Daniel in the lions' den. To be honest, I have not read the entire Bible and I did not know about this story. When I read it, I was surprised and Many images came to mind of how I could represent it. I made several compositions with him always in the foreground and many lions in the background, in some I wanted the grave to be seen, in another a little less and in the end I chose to make a composition where only he and two or three lions were seen, I decided placing the third at the end because it visually complemented the work.

El concepto del concurso era religioso, tomando como tema principal el pasaje de la biblia que habla sobre Daniel en la fosa de los leones, para ser sincera no me he leído la biblia completa y no sabía sobre esta historia, cuando la leí quedé sorprendida y muchas imagenes se vinieron en mi cabeza de cómo podría representarlo. Hice varias composiciones con él siempre en el primer plano y de fondo muchos leones, en unos quería que se viera la fosa, en otro un poco menos y al final opté por hacer una composición donde se viera únicamente él y dos o tres leones, decidí colocar el tercero al final porque visualmente complementaba la obra.

When I began to place the color I made a mental image of how I wanted the lighting and shadow to be projected, deciding on overhead lighting in the upper left area, there I was going to place the rays of lights that are part of the final work, but it took a while to get there. To place the digital painting I chose the watercolor brush.**

Al comenzar a colocar el color me hice una imagen mental de cómo quería que se proyectara la iluminación y la sombra, decidiendome por una iluminación cenital en la zona superior izquierda, allí iba a colocar los rayos de luces que forman parte de la obra final, pero tomó un tiempo para llegar allí. Para colocar la pintura digital opté por el pincel de acuarela.

After having finished what entertains me the most, which is the face, I touched on the least fun parts for me, which are the clothing. Even though I don't like it very much, I have to admit that fabric looked very nice with the touches of light and shadow.

Después de haber terminado lo que más me entretiene que es el rostro, tocó las partes menos divertidas para mi que son el ropaje, aunque no me guste mucho tengo que admitir que esa tela me quedó muy linda con los toques de luz y sombra.

Apart from the lions, I struggled making the hands because they are angles that I am not so used to working with, in fact the whole work was a constant battle because since I graduated from university I had not done this type of realistic works, since I went into the field of caricature and illustration.

Aparte de los leones, batalle haciendo las manos porque son ángulos de los cuáles no estoy tan acostumbrada a trabajar, de hecho toda la obra fue una batalla constante porque desde que me gradué de la universidad no hacía este tipo de obras tan realistas, ya que me fui al ámbito de la caricatura y la ilustración.

To achieve that background lighting I did the effect with the combination of sum and blur, and well, after I finished fighting with those lions and the third one that I decided to place in the foreground, it turned out that it was missing something that would give that message of divinity, So, apart from the golden rays that illuminate the work, I chose to place some white feathers in movement and that's it, I considered it finished. Doing this type of work for competitions, it is clear that we enter with the expectation of winning and when it does not happen, it is like a low blow, however looking back on it, each work has a learning experience and each work helps you improve as an artist, and I tell to myself from that moment "Cheer up" that nothing is in vain. Para lograr esa iluminación de fondo hice el efecto con la combinación en suma y desenfoque, y bueno, después que terminé de luchar con esos leones y el tercero que decidí colocarlo en primer plano, resultaba que le faltaba algo que diera ese mensaje de divinidad, así que, aparte de los rayos dorados que iluminan la obra, opté por colocarle unas plumas blancas en movimiento y listo, la di por culminada. Hacer este tipo de trabajos para concursos, esta claro que uno entra con la expectativa de ganar y cuando no pasa pues, es como un golpe bajo, sin embargo viendolo en retrospectiva, cada obra tiene un aprendizaje y cada obra te ayuda a mejorar como artista, y le digo a mi yo de ese momento "Ánimo" que nada es en vano.
