[ENG|ESP] My opinion about which Resident Evil game should be remade next
If you are a fan of this famous franchise, you know that the last Resident Evil remakes have been hugely successful, for this reason we start to wonder which could be the next one to be remade, because there are some interesting games left in this franchise that many new fans don’t know of.
From all the games that are included in this post, Resident Evil 5 will be the one to most likely get a remake since it was a commercial success, and there were some references made in the Resident Evil 4 remake that hint at its development, I’m not going spoil those references to those of you who have not played the game yet, rest assured. Personally, a Resident Evil 5 remake doesn’t interest me because the original game took too much of an action direction for my tastes, besides I don’t really think that game is obsolete or in need of a remake as others might actually be in this saga.
Since I was little I liked the more classical take of the original Resident Evil games, still I think that Resident Evil Zero aged badly, anyone who played it knows that its inventory system is annoying since it doesn’t have the magical storage boxes where you could keep objects and this forced the player to leave items in the maps randomly. Another thing is that even though this is a prequel it didn’t really add anything of significance to the saga, in fact I think it doesn’t even matter if you play it or not. But I think a remake will give Capcom the opportunity to fix these issues and re-imagine the plot to make it more interesting.
With so many experiments that Capcom has been doing during these past years to reinvent Resident Evil, trying out new online type of games, I wonder: why the hell haven’t they done a remake of Resident Evil: Outbreak? To me this game handles a very interesting concept and tries to take the single player surviving experience to a four player mode in which everyone has to cooperate to survive in different scenarios in Raccoon City.
The most interesting aspects when it comes to the gameplay is that each of the eight characters has an specific ability, like better aim with firearms, manufacturing homemade weapons with the items we find, making healing objects or opening different locks, but that’s not all because the character you played as could also turn into a zombie after he or she died, this type of gameplay was very advanced for its time but it was also sadly too limited by the primitive online mode available during those years (PS2). I think that with modern technology, Capcom could make a very good remake.
Let’s see, I’m putting the first Resident Evil on this list because I see a lot of people want it to be remade, but it seems as if people don’t know this game already has a remake that also got a recent remaster, I’m talking about the Resident Evil HD Remaster. Honestly, I don’t think this one needs another remake, specially because the HD remaster is still really good and is perfectly enjoyable, in fact I’ve seen a lot of people playing It recently for the first time and they have liked it a lot, maybe in 10 or 15 years a remake of this game would make better sense than having it be remade now.
Of all the games I’ve mentioned here, Resident Evil CODE: Veronica is to me the one that needs a remake the most, first of all because this is one of the less known games of the saga and secondly, because I think its plot is really interesting, this game worked as the ending to the cycle that began with the events in Raccoon City, and the third point is that the main character is Claire Redfield, having my favorite character from the entire saga as the playable lead really adds to this game for me, and the last point for me is that this game has a plot that takes place in a island with locations and villains that are very macabre, I can’t stop thinking about how amazing the Ashford mansion would look like with modern graphics, and the entire game could have a tone more similar to the one of Resident Evil 2 Remake. I definitely want Capcom to make it justice with a new version so more people can know of it.

Si eres seguidor de esta famosa saga te habrás enterado que los últimos remakes de Resident Evil están teniendo un éxito sorprendente, por tal motivo uno se pregunta cuál podría ser la próxima entrega en recibir este tratamiento y es que todavía quedan algunos juegos interesantes de la saga que muchos fans recién llegados probablemente no conozcan.
De todos los juegos que decidí incluir en este post, Resident Evil 5 por motivos comerciales es el que más probablemente vaya a tener su remake, debido a que en el Resident Evil 4 (2023) hicieron un par de referencias a esta entrega que insinúan que ya está en desarrollo, no voy a hablar de cuáles son esas referencias para no arruinarles la sorpresa a quienes todavía no hayan podido jugar la renovada aventura de Leon y Ashley, así que tranquilos. A modo personal un remake de Resident Evil 5 no despierta mi interés ni me parece una movida interesante, primero porque el juego original no caló en mi como otras entregas principalmente porque se desvió hacia la acción más desmedida, además no considero que este tan ¨obsoleto¨ como otros juegos de la saga que si necesitan con más urgencia de un remake.
Desde pequeño siempre me han gustado más la vertiente clásica de los juegos de Resident Evil, sin embargo me parece que Resident Evil Zero ha envejecido demasiado mal, cualquiera que lo haya jugado sabe muy bien que tiene un sistema de gestión de inventario muy tedioso porque no cuenta con aquellos baúles mágicos que servían para guardar objetos, esto obligaba al jugador a tener que dejar tirados muchos de esos objetos por los mapeados para regresar a recogerlos cuando realmente los necesitabas. Otro detalle es que aunque se trate de una precuela del primer Resident Evil, la historia de Resident Evil Zero realmente no aportó nada significativo al lore de la saga que justifique su existencia, de hecho considero que da igual si lo juegas o no. A pesar de todo eso pienso que con un remake, Capcom tendría la oportunidad de arreglar todos sus defectos y reimaginar su historia para que sea mucho más interesante.
Con tantos experimentos que ha hecho Capcom durante los últimos años para intentar convertir Resident Evil a varios estilos de juegos online, me pregunto ¿Por qué rayos todavía no han hecho un remake de Resident Evil: Outbreak? Para mí este juego manejó un concepto muy interesante tratando de llevar la experiencia de supervivencia de los Resident Evil en solitario, a un modo para cuatro jugadores en línea en el que todos tenían que colaborar para poder sobrevivir en diferentes escenarios ambientados en Raccoon City.
Lo más interesante a nivel jugable es que cada uno de los ocho personajes disponibles en Outbreak, contaba con una habilidad especifica como mejor puntería con las armas de fuego, poder fabricar armas caseras con objetos que ibas encontrando, crear objetos curativos especiales o abrir diferentes tipos de cerraduras, pero eso no es todo ya que el personaje con el que estuvieses jugando también podía contagiarse con el virus y si llegabas a morir se convertía en un zombie, esto me pareció un concepto de juego demasiado adelantando para su época y que lamentablemente se vio muy limitado por el primitivo modo online de las consolas de aquellos años (PS2). Con la tecnología moderna estoy seguro que Capcom podría hacer un remake muy interesante de Resident Evil: Outbreak.
A ver, coloque al primer Resident Evil en esta lista porque he visto que hay gente que quiere que le hagan un remake, pero pareciera que esas personas no saben que este juego ya tiene un remake que también tuvo una remasterizaron mejorada que salió hace algunos años, me refiero a Resident Evil HD Remaster. Honestamente no pienso que el primer Resident Evil necesite de otro remake, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que el HD Remaster se conserva muy bien y es perfectamente disfrutable, de hecho recientemente he visto videos en Youtube de gente jugándolo por primera vez a las que les ha gustado mucho, dentro unos 10 o 15 años puede que tenga más sentido que le hagan una nueva versión.
De todos los juegos que he mencionado aquí, para mí Resident Evil CODE: Veronica es el que más urgentemente necesita de un remake, primero porque no es un juego muy conocido por muchos fans, segundo, su historia me parece muy interesante porque sirvió como cierra a un ciclo que comenzó con los eventos en Raccoon City, tercero, tiene a Claire Redfield, mi personaje favorito de la saga, como uno de sus protagonistas y por último se trata de un juego que se desarrolla en una isla con locaciones y villanos bastante macabros, no puedo dejar de imaginar lo espectacular que luciría la mansión de los Ashford con gráficos actuales y como todo el juego pudiese tener un tono similar al de Resident Evil 2 Remake. Definitivamente deseo que Capcom le haga justicia a esta entrega con una nueva versión para que más gente lo conozca.

Apenas he jugado uno de los Resident Evil pero realmente son juegos muy buenos. Lo jugué con mi novio y aparte de divertirme porque él se frustraba al ver que yo no hacía las cosas rápido😅, me gustó bastante la historia y cómo se desarrolla todo. Ojalá hagan muy buenos remakes para cada uno

Aún no juego Code Veronica ni RE0, pero están en mis pendientes junto con el RE3, cuyo remake no he jugado porque primero quiero jugar el original y luego el remake (aunque digan que está medio feíto).
Coincido contigo en que hay juegos que necesitan un remake con más urgencia que Resident Evil 5, pero siendo un juego tan divisivo me da mucha curiosidad cómo Capcom podría rehacerlo y que continúe el camino de los remakes. Igualmente considero que el primer RE puede aguantar varios añitos más sin remake, he tenido ganas de volver a jugarlo, es un juego excelente, saludos y gracias por compartir tu opinión.
I hope you play them, especially the original RE3 and Code Veronica. RE3 Remake is not a bad game, but as a Remake I think it is underwhelming.
I'm sure a hypothetical RE5 Remake will bring some controversy as it did back then, especially considering how more sensitive the world is today.

Resident Evil Remaster es perfecto, de hecho fue el inicio de partida de los remakes y en base a lo que hicieron siguieron el cannon de los siguientes remakes (todo mal con el 3) el juego 5 se vendió en masa gracias al éxito del juego anterior y porque el protagonista era Chris pero vaya fiasco el que nos llevamos muchos al tomar los controles. Para mí fue un asco, un copia y pegue del juego 4, entre otras cosas como la IA horrible de Sheeva si juegas en solitario, creo que el cooperativo es lo único bueno que tiene (en mi opinión) siento que le vendría bien no solo un remake si no un reboot para poder cambiar todo lo malo (que e la mayoría) y orientarlo por el cannon actual de los remakes de la saga
Respecto a Resident Evil Zero, es cierto que la historia es un poco aburrida, eso sumado a la dificultad de los baúles y la debilidad de rebeca, hace que lo pienses dos veces antes de jugarlo de nuevo, es por eso que siento que aunque tuvo un remaster (como RE1) debería tener un remake esta vez bien encaminado
No he jugado Código verónica (y la verdad no sé que estoy esperando haha) pero he oído maravillas así que en efecto, espero un remake tambien :3

I also did not like RE3 Remake, that game dropped too many great elements from the original game. RE5 was very successful, but I also think the game was like an underwhelming copy of RE4 lol.
You should play Code Veronica some day, it is very similar to OG RE2 in gameplay terms.
