During our childhoods and teen years, there were some games that we loved, maybe because of their soundtracks, their stories or their gameplays, now years have gone by and we wish for a sequel or a new version that will probably not be made.

In my case, I will start by talking about TimeSplitters, a first-person shooter saga with so many cool elements I’ve never seen in any other game of the same genre before, the plot about time traveling and the never ending funny jokes, the multiplayer mode that had so many unique and funny game modes like the one where there is a time limit to collect the biggest amount of coins that your rivals drop after being eliminated are some examples, but that’s not all, these games also have a huge cast of playable characters that are totally crazy, you could play as zombies, futuristic robots, a ninja monkey and even a dinosaur, seriously, in what other shooter have you ever seen anything like it?

I think it’s a waste not to revive such a fun and unique saga that I got to know on the PS2 and now is forgotten, the worse part is that a while ago I found out that some attempts were made to try to bring it back with several projects, but it looks like that’s not going to happen since the company that owned the rights was closed in December of 2023, a shame really because I think that with modern technology those projects could have been a huge success.

The Burnout racing series was one that I loved a lot, since the first moment I could play it on the PS2, it had great mechanics and game modes that were not trying to be realistic like Gran Turismo. To give you a better idea, at least to those of you that are not familiar with it, Burnout was like a Fast and the Furious simulator. You could do all kinds of crazy stuff in the race that defied logic, like charging your rivals to take them out of the track or causing the biggest accident in the road to get the highest record of destruction, another detail I liked about these games was the rock soundtrack that made you feel an adrenaline rush during the racing.

I can’t stop thinking about how crazy and spectacular the game would be with modern technology, Electronic Arts, if you are reading this, stop playing around and revive the Burnout series.

Even though I personally didn’t like the gameplay change done to Jak 2, a game that I think is awful, I have a lot of love for the first game of Jak and Daxter, mainly because it was similar to the Crash Bandicoot games, it had a colorful aesthetic and a diverse and funny gameplay.

As many fans of these characters born on the PS2, I wish for a remake or a new game of Jak and Daxter, but it looks like that won’t happen because people at Naughty Dog are dead set on boringly overexploiting games like TLOU as if they had no other games to care about under their company’s name.

Capcom is a company that has been making good stuff lately, especially with the recent Resident Evil games, but still I wonder, what the hell is Capcom waiting for to bring back Dino Crisis? I’ve seen so many fans in many online places wishing for this dinosaur hunting saga to be brought back in some form.

To me, this saga was always like the little brother of Resident Evil due to their similar gameplay, it’s a shame it had such a bad ending because of the failure that was the third game. Still, I think that if Capcom could revive Devil May Cry after so long, then why not try the same with Dino Crisis? I'm already imagining how awesome a new game would be if it got the same treatment as the Resident Evil Remakes.

From all the games and sagas I’ve mentioned until now, Castlevania is the one I feel sorry for the most, it has been forgotten, I find that to be a shame specially because these games have elements I find fascinating, like the gothic aesthetic, the epic orchestral soundtracks, the vampire mythology, and its simple but funny mechanics that had roleplaying elements.

With the huge popularity that Metroidvania games have today and with the new breath of life that was given by the Netflix animated series to this franchise, I just don’t understand why Konami has not used this in their favor to create a new game for this saga and its well deserving glory. Konami why have you become such a horrible company? Why?

Durante nuestras infancias y adolescencias todos juagamos algunos juegos que nos parecieron muy interesantes, ya sea por su música, su historia o sistema de juego y tras el paso de los años anhelamos que les hicieran una secuela o nueva versión que probablemente no llegará a realizarse.

En mi caso comenzare hablándoles de TimeSplitters, una saga de juegos en primera persona que contaba con muchos elementos geniales que jamás había visto en otros shooters, para empezar su historia abordaba el tema de los viajes en el tiempo con un sentido del humor ocurrente, su modo multijugador contaba con muchos modos de juego muy originales y divertidos como uno en el que dentro de un límite de tiempo había que recolectar la mayor cantidad de monedas que soltaran tus rivales después de ser eliminados, pero eso no es todo en los juegos de esta saga la plantilla de personajes disponibles era una locura total, podías jugar con zombies, robots futuristas, un mono ninja e incluso un dinosaurio, ¿En qué otro Shooter has visto algo semejante?

Me parece un desperdicio que esta saga tan original y divertida que conocí en PS2 haya quedado en el olvido, lo peor es que hace un tiempo me entere que había intenciones de traerla de vuelta con varios proyectos que sonaban interesantes, pero parece que esto no va a suceder porque la empresa dueña de sus derechos fue clausurada en diciembre del año pasado, una lástima porque pienso que con la tecnología

La serie de carreras Burnout me encantó desde el primer momento en el que pude jugarla en PS2, debido a que sus mecánicas y modos de juego no buscaban el realismo de juegos como Gran Turismo. Para darles una mejor idea a los que no la conozcan, Burnout es prácticamente un simulador de las películas de Rápidos y Furioso. En las carreras puedes hacer toda clase de locuras que desafían la lógica como embestir a tus rivales para sacarlos de la pista o provocar el mayor accidente en una autopsita para establecer el mejor record de destrucción, otro detalle que me encantaba de estos juegos era que su rockera banda sonora te llenaba de más adrenalina durante las carreras.

Definitivamente no puedo dejar de imaginar cómo serian esas alocadas y espectaculares carreras con la tecnología moderna, Electronic Arts si estás leyendo esto por favor déjate de tonterías y revive la serie Burnout.

Aunque personalmente no me gustó el cambio en la jugabilidad que adoptaron para Jak 2, juego que me parece insufrible de jugar en la actualidad, le tengo bastante aprecio a la primera entrega de Jak and Daxter, principalmente porque se acercaba más al estilo de juego de los Crash Bandicoot, al emplear una estética colorida y un desarrollo variado y divertido.

Como muchos fans de estos personajes nacidos en PS2, yo desearía que hicieran un remake o una nueva entrega de Jak and Daxter, sin embargo parece que eso no va a ocurrir porque la gente de Naughty Dog últimamente está muy enfrascada en sobreexplotar perezosamente los juegos de TLOU como si no tuviesen más franquicias importantes.

Me parece que últimamente Capcom últimamente ha estado haciendo las cosas bastante bien, especialmente con las entregas más recientes de Resident Evil, sin embargo yo me pregunto ¿Qué rayos están esperando para traer de vuelta a Dino Crisis? Y es que he notado que somos muchos los fans que deseamos que esta saga mata dinosauros vuelva de alguna forma.

Dino Crisis para mí siempre fue cómo el hermanito menor de Resident Evil, porque jugablemente era similar a los Resident Evil clásicos, lamentablemente tuvo un final catastrófico por culpa del horrendo fracaso que fue su tercer juego. Sin embargo pienso que si Capcom pudo revivir a Devil May Cry después de tanto tiempo ¿Por qué no hacer lo mismo con Dino Crisis? Solo imagínense una nueva entrega con un tratamiento similar a los remakes de Resident Evil, eso para mí sería maravilloso.

De todos los juegos o sagas que he mencionado hasta ahora, Castlevania es la que más lamento que se haya quedado en el olvido, especialmente porque cuenta con elementos que me fascinan como su estética gótica, su épica música orquestal, su mitología vampírica y sus simples pero divertidas mecánicas jugables con toques de juegos de rol.

Con la sorprendente popularidad que tienen los juegos metroidvania actualmente y con el soplo de vida que le han dado las últimas series animadas de Netflix a esta franquicia, realmente no comprendo por qué Konami no ha aprovechado el ¨boom¨ para crear una nueva entrega que le devuelva a esta saga su merecida gloría. Konami ¿Por qué te has convertido en una compañía horrenda? ¿Por qué?
