Damanjodi

Damanjodi is a beautiful city in Koraput district of Odisha. The whole city is surrounded by green forests and hills.

There is a small township in Damanjodi, known for many attractions, which we will discuss here in this article.

Damanjodi is just 600 Km away from the capital city, Bhubaneswar. It is well connected with Bhubaneswar and other important cities by train and intercity buses.

The road quality is also very good and well developed, so you can drive easily to Damanjodi.


There are 5 temples in Damanjodi, Hanuman temple is one of them. This temple hosts the 2nd tallest Hanuman statue of the world. The statue has a height of 108.9 feet. Also there is a park and dinning hall inside the temple premises.

Other tourist place in Damanjodi is Sabari lake. This lake has a park, waterfall, an open gym etc. Boating facility was also available here, which is currently not operating.

The whole lake is surrounded by jungle from 3 sides. There is benches availbale in the park, where visitors like to seat and enjoy the nature. There is food stalls out side the Lake, before going inside the lake, you can buy some local foods from these shops.

Behind this lake, there is a Sai temple, which is one of the sacred place here. Many Sai Baba devotees come here to offer their prayer to God. In lunch time you can get prasada here at free of cost.

Nalco has developed all these places and maintaining the tourist places. One another temple is the Jagannath temple of Sector 1 , Damanjodi. It is situated at the hill top, at the foot hill of same hill, there is a science park. The park is a good place to learn scientific facts while playing.

There is a temple, Maa Kanta Baunsuni temple in Damanjodi, where the presiding goddes of Damanjodi gets worshipped. The main worship place for Maa Kantabaunsuni is located inside a Bamboo forest.

You can also explore the Shiridi Sai Baba Mandir, which is located in sector 2 (Near Br. Ambedkar stadium). This temple is constructed recently only. The shrine is made up of white marble. The temple has a park adjacent to prayer are.
