Hello everyone! How's your new year so far? I hope you're all doing great and feeling positive about your 2023. I still have so many drafts that are yet to published because I was too busy during the holidays. I was trying to blog about this before the year ends but I wasn't able to because i still have so many photos that I needed to edit. So I apologized for this late post but this was one of the highlights of my 2022.

Last December 8th, I, along with my senior colleagues went to Bataan. At first, I was not part of the plan because I was thinking that it was out of my budget but my senior colleagues kept on convincing me to go with them and even paid for my ticket which I was so grateful about. They even shoulder the food and transportation expenses and only get to pay half of the accomodation. Lucky me right?

Our flight was early in the morning at Five and arrived at Clark Airport 15 minutes before 7. We decided to have our breakfast first and since Mcdonalds' is the nearest food chain along Clark Pampanga we had our breakfast there. Oh, we were picked up at the airport by the way by one of my colleague's relative that has van rentals and it made our travel there easy and comfortable. I think having your own transportation is a must there to make the most our of your time.

Right after our breakfast our original plan was to go straight to Balanga City, Bataan and attend a mass at St. Joseph Church since it was Immaculate Conception Day. As we drove off, we noticed an Immaculate Conception Church full of banderitas as they celebrated that very special day too. So we stopped over and decided to just attend the mass there and it was a perfect timing since the mass started five minutes after we went inside the church.

After attending the mass at Pampanga we headed on to Balanga City where Gap Hotel is located. Since we arrived a little earlier than the check-in time, we asked for an early checked in and since there were no guests prior to us they allowed us but we were charged an extra three hundred pesos in each room. We left our bags inside the room and decided to have lunch first before we head to our first itinerary.

I was actually incharged of these stuff and I googled the best resto nearby. Google suggested the Beanery as the top restaurant in Balanga so we went there and had our lunch. Google did not dissapoint us because the food there is recommendable! They have generous amount of the servings which you can share, my favorite was the chicken wings in patis sauce tasted really good! I so love it and I wish they'd have a branch here in Cebu soon.

We were so happy with our lunch at the Beanery and headed on to La Casas Filipinas De Acuzar. It's a famous heritage resort in Bataan that features twenty seven Spanish design heritage houses. You can actually book your stay there but it's very expensive though. You can have a day tour package though if you don't want to stay there but still it's a bit pricey for me. You have to pay for Two Thousand Seven Hundred Pesos to go inside and avail the tour that includes the boat ride in the vicinity. It's actually a very beautiful place that you wouldn't imagine it's here in the Philippines. Since we went there a little bit late and the package includes a buffet, it wasn't ideal for us because we were all full when we went there. And Php2,700.00 is a lot already given that there were six of us might as well booked a room to stay there right? So we just had our photos taken in front where the receptionist and at the front area of the vicinity. Maybe next time we can explore the place and we're hoping they will adjust the rates especially with guests who only wanted to tour and take pictures inside. An entrance fee perhaps not the tour package.

Right after taking photos at La Casas Filipinas De Acuzar, we went to Mt. Samat where the big cross is located but unfortunately the gate closes at 4:00 in the afternoon and we arrived thirty minutes after. So we just take photos outside and head on to the famous Balanga Plaza where there Cityhall and Cathedral is located. The plaza looks really beautiful at night with all the lights and the fountain infront of their Plaza hotel too looks really beautiful. Everything looks really dreamy that will make you feel that you're in other country.

After our visit to the plaza we had our dinner at The Yard near our hotel. It's actually a newly opened cafe, the ambiance there is great but the food needs to be improved. The staff seems friendly and the owner too. They asked about our experience and relay to them that their food needs to be improved.

That summarizes our first day in Bataan and it was really a wonderful experience for me since it was my first time there and first travel after pandemic. I'll upload next time our second day where we visited the famous World War Museum.
