COSAS SOBRE MI |THINGS ABOUT ME

SOURCE| FUENTE

My name is Lucy Saraid Salas Dávila. I’m 16 years old, and I consider myself a pretty level-headed girl. I just graduated from high school, so right now I’m in that transitional phase, looking for a college program that I’ll fall in love with—maybe a course, learning to sew, or working with animals… well, to be honest, I need money, but I’m taking my time to figure out which path to take and what opportunities come my way.

Lo que me gusta y define mi día a día. ] What I Love and What Defines My Daily Life

If there’s one thing that plays an important role in my life, it’s music. I love it so much; I play the cuatro and am currently a member of the Yaracuy Symphony Orchestra, which I enjoy and value immensely.

On the other hand, I’m a Christian, I go to church, I’m a member of the King’s Explorers, and I’m a faithful believer in God—something that guides my path and is an essential part of who I am. I’m not one to share too many personal details or make up crazy stories online; I prefer to keep things calm and straightforward.

¿A qué universidad vas a entrar?
NOW, I’D LIKE TO TOUCH A LITTLE ON THE TOPIC OF EDUCATION We’ve just graduated from high school, and immediately a kind of social machine comes crashing down on us, relentlessly asking: What are you going to study? Which college are you going to attend? It seems there’s an unwritten rule that says if you don’t enroll in a long degree program at 16 or 17, you’ll fall behind or have wasted your time. But, taking a step back, I wonder: Is it really healthy to make a decision that will shape a large part of your adult life when you’re barely beginning to get to know the real world? I think there are very valid reasons why many of us young people feel hesitant or prefer to slow down a bit before diving headfirst into college:

The Burden of Uncertainty: Choosing a career out of habit, just to meet expectations, or out of fear of “wasting a year” usually ends badly. Many end up frustrated halfway through their careers because they realized too late that it wasn’t the right fit for them. The value of prior experience: Working at whatever job you can find, learning a trade, taking a short course, or exploring different fields—even things as diverse as learning to sew, caring for animals, or trying out a temporary job—gives you a unique perspective. The reality is that you need money, but beyond that, exposure to the working world teaches you discipline and resilience and helps you develop sound judgment. The right to make mistakes and discover yourself: The system sometimes pushes us to become adults too quickly. Taking a breather to figure out who you are, what you like, and what skills you have shouldn’t be seen as a failure, but rather as a smart pause. When we finally decide what to study in college, ideally we should do so with conviction and not because of social pressure.
