Цар Лазар - Emperor Lazarus

Лазар Хребељановић, познат у народној традицији као цар Лазар, био је средњовековни српски кнез, који је после Маричке битке створио највећу и најмоћнију државу на територији некадашњег Српског царства. Умро је 28. јуна по грегоријанском, односно 15. јуна по јулијанском календару.

Lazar Hrebeljanović, known in popular tradition as Emperor Lazar, was a medieval Serbian prince who, after the Battle of Marička, created the largest and most powerful state on the territory of the former Serbian Empire. He died on June 28 according to the Gregorian calendar, that is, on June 15 according to the Julian calendar.

Постиже Лазар блажену смрт тако што му је глава посечена, а његови мили другови молили су усрдно да погину пре њега и не виде његову смрт. Tада не беше места у целој тој земљи где се није чуо тужни глас и вапај који се не може ни са чиме упоредити.

Lazarus achieves a blessed death by having his head cut off, and his beloved companions begged fervently to perish before him and not see his death. And then, then there was no place in the whole country where the sad voice of wailing and a cry that cannot be compared to anything else was not heard.

По завршетку преговора,кнежево тело је предано породици и она га је сачувала у Приштини,потом пренела у манастир Раваницу,кнежеву задужбину.Сахрана у Приштини је извршена првих дана месеца јула 1389.
Иначе име Лазар је јеврејског порекла, „El’azar“, што значи „Божија помоћ“.

At the end of the negotiations, the prince's body was handed over to the family and they preserved it in Priština, then transferred it to the Ravanica monastery, the prince's endowment. The burial in Priština took place in the first days of July 1389.
By the way, the name Lazar is of Jewish origin, "El'azar", which means "God's help".
