It's conker time! My best part of Fall - LOH contest no. 50

It's conker time! A great time to be alive and my best part of Fall.

As October draws in, together with the colourful array of Autumn leaves, the conkers start to fall from the Horse Chestnut trees in England. They are the hard brown seeds of the tree that are found encased in green prickly casings. The casings then turn brown and crack open to reveal their hidden treasures. My children love to collect them each Fall and we often make extra trips to the local park for this very reason.

They feel delightful in the hand and we all join in with the kids to collect them from beneath the trees in the longer unkempt grass. I love doing things with my children that bring them joy and the opportunity to spend time with them outdoors is always something I value.

In times gone by children used to play the game Conkers with them, which involves tying a conker to the end of the string and taking it in turns to bash each other's conker until it breaks, leaving the winner as the one with the remaining intact conker. Bonkers I know, but fun! There is a project on to try to revive the tradition and I think I'm going to get my kids to have a go this Autumn 😂

I happen to love all four seasons for the wonderful changes that they each bring to our world, but when I consider Autumn or Fall, my mind wanders to things like the beautiful colours that adorn the trees and later form a carpet for our feet, and the natural cooling down of our side of the planet after a long summer of warmth and growth as it prepares to enter a semi-state of hibernation. I think of Halloween and the fun the kids will have going trick or treating, and I look forward to the wonderful outdoor times we will experience as a family collecting conkers under the Horse Chestnut Trees and enjoying the freshness of the great outdoors as we go on our long walks in the countryside.

Today I am alive and despite the slowing down of the natural world around us, I am feeling energised and looking forward to a trip to the park tomorrow with my children (if the rain stops!) to go and hunt for conkers.

What will you be doing this Autumn / Fall?

I invite @cynshineonline to join the Ladies of Hive and take part in the weekly contest 😊🙏

You have received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens for posting in Ladies of Hive.

Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂

¡Considere esperar! ¡Gracias! 🤗

oh, thank you so much for the invite @samsmith1971 and my bad for not seeing it sooner. I've been working on updating our website and launching a new group. I appreciate the invite big time. And huh that's a conker? They look like Buckeyes when they're out of that weird spiny shell thing. I never heard of a Conker. I love learning new things! Sounds like an interesting game lol.

I'm growing my business this fall. Fall is my favorite season. I'm from Florida and we don't notice fall much except for Halloween and Thanksgiving. There are no beautiful changes in the environment. I moved to Ohio and NYC to enjoy the beautiful seasons changing. Now here in Toronto it's just as lovely and I'm starting to see my favorite tree outside slowly turning darker colors and I love it.

So I guess I'll be growing my biz AND enjoying the beautiful color changes all around me.

Wishing you a lovely time with your children.
Much love,
Cyn

My pleasure Cyn🙂 Sounds like some exciting times ahead for you. When you say a new group, as in a new group/community on Hive or something completely different? Wow, you have managed to move around and explore some great parts of the US and Canada. I've not visited Canada before but I have friends in Canada and their photos of the different seasons are always glorious. Very definitive changes in the landscape. I have just looked up buckeyes and see they are related to our European Horse Chestnut trees that bear conkers, so probably all in the terminology between the US and UK lol. I have visited the US once before in September 2010 and on that occasion, I spent 5 days in New York and a day in DC. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did find it quite sobering to be there over Sep 11 but was heartened by the coming together of the community on that day to remember. I have wanted to go back to America ever since but next time I would like to do a road trip ...it's trying to nail down which route to do that's the biggest issue lol. I had originally wanted to do California as it has such diversity and so much to offer, especially for the kids, but then Colorado keeps drawing me too...and I do love the mountains. Maybe a bit of Colorado thrown in with the Southern States? Maybe more than 1 road trip is required 🤣 😜 😍 Ladies of Hive have a weekly contest that ends at midnight every Saturday. They promote the use of their community by giving 5 LOH tokens to members for posting in Ladies of Hive Community and they are growing the value of their token quite nicely. It has been subject to some manipulation over the past couple of weeks by an individual but it looks like they are getting a handle on the situation. I've just got in from playing some football at the park with my hubby and 2 boys on the paved basketball/football court. Take care, Sam

The new group will be on Facebook. It's a paid private group to help women manifest beauty, love, and better sex in their lives. @ryzeonline and I are super excited about it. We will launch in the next few days!

I love it here in Canada. The people here are super nice and the seasons here are glorious. I lived in Dublin for 6 years and we had the seasons there too. I didn't know you lived in the UK, for some reason I assumed you were American, my bad for assuming.

NYC and DC are lovely. I spent a day in DC and enjoyed it. Ohhh a road trip across America is amazing. I drove from Florida to Colorado. Never been to California but Colorado is so beautiful. If I were ever to move back to the US, Colorado would be at the top of my list of states to live in. It's so lovely! If you wanna go to Colorado AND the Southern States be prepared for a LONG ASS drive lol. It took us 4 days of non-stop driving to go from Co to Florida what a freaking nightmare haha. The drive there was great but the drive home...I was over it and wanted it to end desperately.

Thanks for telling me about the LOH and their token. I hope you enjoyed your football in the park with your husband and kids.

Wishing you an amazing day/night.
Much love,
Cyn

Wishing you both all the very best with the new project. I look forward to hearing more about it. Ladies of Hive may be a good place to give it some more exposure ;-) and their token LOH is one that could have a promising future too.

haha, actually I am South African by birth and only moved to the UK at the age of 29. I've now been here almost 21 years. It's scary how time flies. I love that I had the opportunity to grow up in South Africa and experience the laid-back lifestyle, beautiful weather and gorgeous natural scenery. It was fraught with its own issues, and sadly still is. The UK welcomes us though and gave us another place to call home, and for that I am grateful.

I look forward to connecting again soon x
