Movie Review: Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2

After watching season 1, I did not hesitate to get on the next season. It was interesting, and nothing was holding me back from this one. Disney truly cooked with this series, as I like to look at it as a close competition for Netflix's One Piece, which makes it more competitive for both streaming services, and you know what that means for subscribers: more content to watch. Also, they have renewed the series for another season because of its growing interest and viewing numbers.

Season two was filled with more danger and a reminder that being a demigod is not easy for Percy and his friends. This time, they travel to the sea of monsters to get the golden fleece to heal Thalia Grace, the daughter of Zeus. More is at stake with this season as it gets more challenging for the quest with the great prophecy looming around. The best part of this season was getting to meet a new child from one of the top three gods. Previously, it was about Percy Jackson in the first season, who is the son of Poisedon and he gets introduced into the world of the gods and demigods. Then, season two moved its focus from Percy to other characters. I would say other characters got a lot of character development in this season. Percy was not the main focus anymore, although he still played a huge role in the entire story.

Amazingly, this series springs from the books, and a lot of effort has been put into sticking to the script and the book. Keeping it tense was what Annabeth and Clarisse did well in the second season. These ladies delivered some top-tier acting, and I highly recommend you keep an eye out for them, as I am more than certain you will be seeing more of them on your screen.

Another bonus for this series is the confidence projected by the cast that is predominantly made up of teens. They all were acting like professionals, and the likes of Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson brought their acting experience to the table with this series. I did not expect to see a lot of struggle from the lead character, Percy Jackson, but that was the case for him. He had to explore his newly found world and get to understand things for himself, right from the monsters down to the antagonists in the series. Although I got a bit concerned when I did not see much control of elements like water, since he happens to be the son of Poisedon, the god of water. Well, not too bad, since the action made up for that. I could tell there would have to be a lot of rehearsal for the fight scene, since the cast was made up of teens and young adults, the work put in would have been more.

The series did a good job with the monsters and dangers involved with the combination of a good script, which made it a smooth watch for me. Just like the first season, I benched the entire season in one sitting, and it was a good idea. When watching, just bear in mind that it is a movie because the danger the actors went through kept me on the edge of my seat. Go watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians if you have not.
My Rating - 8.0/10

When they continue a history but change the actors it feels a little strange...
