WEEK 47 Ep 2: Flying Down Memory Lane; Deja Vu in Visiting My Former School

avatar

I don't know about you, but I always get a sense of déjà vu when I visit my old school. It's like I've been there before – even though I know that's not possible.

I guess that's just the power of memory. When we revisit a place from our past, it's like our mind plays tricks on us and we experience those memories as if they're happening right now.

It's funny how our memories can make such a strong impression on us. Sometimes I'll see something in my old school and it'll bring back a flood of memories from my time there. Other times, I'll smell something in the hallway and it'll take me back to those carefree days when I was still a student.

Even though it's been years since I left my old school, it feels like I'm right back there again. It's as if time has stood still – and that's definitely not a bad thing.

What Is Deja Vu?

It's been years since I've walked these hallowed halls, it feels like I never left. Every nook and cranny is etched into my memory like a favorite book.

I wander the empty campus, taking in the now-familiar sights and sounds. It's like I'm in a time warp, transported back to a time when I was carefree and happy. Of course, that's not entirely true – I was never really carefree. But there was a certain simplicity to my life back then that I miss.

Maybe that's why deja vu feels so comforting – it takes us back to a time when we were happy and carefree, even if it's just for a moment.

How I Felt Entering My Former School

The last time I walked through these doors, I was a wide-eyed, nerdy high school student who still believed that the world was a beautiful place. But now, as an adult, I feel like I'm starring in my own personal episode of "Deja Vu".

It's strange how such a familiar place can make me feel so foreign. I feel like a visitor in my own memories, like I'm watching myself walk through these halls for the first time. But despite the sense of unfamiliarity, I can't help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia.

It's been a long time since I've been here, but it feels like only yesterday.

Memories of My Time in School

I headed back to my old stomping grounds, but this time as an adult, not a student. Strangely enough, it felt like I was coming home.

As I drove down the familiar streets, memories of my time in school came flooding back. I remembered the embarrassing moments, the fun times, and even the teachers who gave me a hard time. It felt like I was right back in that old classroom, reliving everything all over again.

Thankfully, I was able to snap out of it before I got too homesick and started packing my bags for moving back in. But it was a fun trip down memory lane, and it made me nostalgic for those carefree days.

What Has Changed Since I Left

At the same time, the school has evolved significantly since my last days there. It’s quite surreal seeing the familiar yet noticeable changes and improvements. There were considerable upgrade, more strikingly, they’ve replaced the well-loved chalkboards with sleek, cutting-edge whiteboards. And of course, being in the 21st century, it goes without saying that most classrooms now have projectors – a technology I can hardly remember dreaming of when I was a student!

I felt like I’ve traveled decades into the future! Yet in some small way, there’s a comforting familiarity in all of this too – like coming back to an old friend.

Overcoming Fear of Looking Back on the Past

It's easy to get stuck in a rut of dreading looking back on the past. If you're too afraid, even the most innocuous of activities – like visiting your former school – can become a source of anxiety and stress. But instead of seeing it as an exercise in regret, why not look at it as a chance for renewal?

Reflection can be one's best friend in this case, even if you don't particularly fancy it. Taking some time to acknowledge both the pleasant and unpleasant steps that you have taken can help open up doors to new growth and transformation. And who knows? Maybe coming face to face with your once-youthful self will even start up a few tingles of deja vu.

Finding Closure and Joy in Revisiting My Former School

Walking down the corridors, I felt like I was in an episode of The Twilight Zone, only with a happier ending. Despite things looking different and much more grown-up than my days as an adolescent, I could still feel the familiar buzz of joy from being in a place that had so many memories attached to it.

It was like revisiting a childhood haunt – one that you thought you'd forgotten over the years – and finding not only old memories, but also something new to appreciate. It gave me closure on my past and filled me with joy for my present.

When I eventually left the school grounds, it was with a newfound sense of peace and understanding. Sure, revisiting my former school may not have been the same as buying happiness in a bottle, but for me it proved just as rewarding.

Conclusion

As I walked around the campus, taking in the sights and sounds of my former school, I was flooded with memories. Every room I walked into, every hallway I passed down, brought back a flood of memories. It was like I had never left.

Deja vu is a strange feeling, but it was definitely in full force as I walked around my former school. It was as if I was right back where I started, all those years ago. I couldn't help but smile as I walked down memory lane.

Sometimes it acts just like magic, but what can we say? I use to have similar experience too each time i visit my school. It's been very long I left but the memory always comes back as if it is presently happening.

In cases like this I can't say it is our brains playing tricks on us rather I would say it is only signaling us about events that has occurred before.

It always looks like magic to someone, but research says it's healthy for the memory. It boosts memory retention.
