On today's Blog I Want to share About a Fest that we Bengali from India and also the whole Bangladesh celebrate the Day as New Year.

So, Let's start from the beginning.....

We Bengali people celebrate Pahela Baishakh every year as the New Year's Day, which is celebrated on the 14th of April.

Pahela Baishakh is a cultural celebration that is deeply rooted in our Bengali traditions, customs, and history. Many of the rituals and practices associated with this day are unique to our culture.

On these day at the Early morning The celebration begins with a colorful procession known as Prabhat Pheri/প্রভাত ফেরী। School Students and teachers were walk in a procession, and the parade was led by musicians playing traditional instruments like dhol and dhak and Some students were sangRabindra Sangeet on that day.

We also visited temples early in the morning to offer prayers to deities and seek blessings for a prosperous and healthy year ahead.

Some People clean and decorate their homes with rangolis, flowers, and colorful decorations to create a festive atmosphere.

We Bengalis always prefer food for any occasion and this is our most favorable fest so, we prepare special dishes like panta bhat (fermented rice), Kata Pona (Katla katla), Hilish bhaja (fried hilsa fish), chutney, and sweets like rasgulla, sandesh, and mishti doi. These traditional dishes are an essential part of the celebration.

Various cultural programs and performances, such as traditional dances, music, and drama, are held throughout the day everywhere especially in Schools they also organised games and rides for children.

People go shopping and attend fairs where various vendors sell traditional handicrafts, clothes, stuffs like wooden chair and others toys also defferent food items.

Bengalis wear traditional attire like saree, dhoti, and kurta on Pahela Baishakh. The saree is draped in the Bengali style, known as the Bengali Tant Saree, while the dhoti is worn with a Punjabi or kurta.

On This day we give sweets each others to start a new bengali year with full of sweetness.
Our second Biggest fest After Durga Puja is Pohela boishakh.
