School diaries: let's fly kites 🪁

I love my Art class with my little ones! The second graders are my favorite this year, as they are really good kids and they seem to enjoy our lessons together as much as I do. A few days ago we made 3d kites to hang on the walls of our classroom.

As always, I found the idea on the internet and made a cut out pattern on my computer. This time I needed three pieces of paper, one for the basic canvas of our piece with the tail of the kite on it. The second one was a set of three clouds in different shapes and sizes, all printed three times. The third and last one was a basic kite shape printed three times as well.

Each kid had to color all three sheets of paper and then cut out the kite and cloud shapes. Then, I would help them fold and glue them together the way you can see in the photos.

Had we used light blue paper for the background and decorative ribbons for the tail of the kites, our artwork would have been even more beautiful, but I still love them!

The children had fun, they colored, they used their fine motor skills to cut around small shapes and tried to glue them right. They said they liked the final result when they saw all the pieces hanging together on the classroom wall. If that is not a successful lesson, then I don't know what is 🥰
