Sausage rolls in no time

I found some puff pastry in the freezer drawer the other day and decided to use it. While going through the freezer drawers, I also came across some sausages (I have a tendency of storing sausages, bacon and grated cheese to be able to make a quick pizza anytime I feel like it).

I let the puff pastry and sausages thaw in the fridge overnight and in the morning I made some sausage rolls in less than fifteen minutes! I laid my puff pastry on the table and then I poured some hot ketchup mixed with a little mustard and placed the sausages on top of it. One sheet of pastry could fit six sausages. I cut around them, rolled them and put them in a baking tray (always with a sheet of baking paper on it).

I washed my rolls with a mix of whipped egg and a little water and I baked for about thirty minutes at 190°C.

They came out crunchy and hot. The moisture inside was perfect, the sausages not exactly my cup of tea but that's ok, and the balance between the ketchup and mustard was perfect.

Trumpman had five big ones in one morning! Considering I had made twelve, since I only had two sheets of pastry, that ruined my plans of storing some in the freezer for those sudden cravings - you know, when you want a snack but you don't have much time and you simply defrost a slice of pizza or a sausage roll or some cheese pie in the microwave and you're able to satisfy your hunger in less than two minutes. I managed to salvage three of them and hid them in the freezer inside one of those cool zip lock bags I so much love. They have proven to be so helpful around the kitchen and keep my freezer drawers neat and tidy.
