Salonika, baby!

This weekend finds us in Thessaloniki for some errands and our Saturday began with a good breakfast and a walk through the city center.

As you can see our breakfast has all we need to give us energy for a full morning. Coffee and cheese pies!!

The one on the left is made with phyllo dough and the other one with puff pastry. I must say that was the best puff pastry I have ever had. It was light, it wouldn't break into a thousand pieces, it wouldn't give you greasy fingers (at least no more than normal, which is hard for puff pastry) and of course it wouldn't give you indigestion for the rest of your day (you know, that feeling when you wish you never had breakfast and can't stand another bite of anything until half of the day has already passed).

As for the coffee, a simple frapee in a small glass 🤣 A handful of ice cubes is also necessary as the heat is deadly and coffee gets hot very easily and who wants to have their frapee hot? NO ONE!

A couple of hours later we are strolling across the promenade enjoying the sea view. But the temperature is rising, the sun is hot hot hot (extra spicy chilly hot to give you an idea) and we are in search of a cool shade to enjoy something cold to drink.

Even though I had been working in the city the past year, I never visited the center as I was always in a hurry to get back home to Little Man. This was a great break, because I had missed it a little (although for me the best season for this place is spring and autumn, neither too hot nor too cold and as long as it isn't raining you can spend your whole day walking around, gazing the views, enjoying a drink or two and getting the most off the city).
