Carrots!

Do you remember the carrot toy I showed you once? The one with the wooden base and the carrots of different sizes that needed to fit into the right hole?

At first, my Little Man didn't seem to get how it was supposed to work. He only pulled the carrots out with no interest in putting them back in.

Last weekend, after a few months of introducing the toy to him and having played with just the carrots (without the base) a lot of times, he opened the storage box where I keep various educational toys, he took the carrot toy out and started removing and putting the carrots back into the holes!

Surprisingly, he got so engaged, he even pushed my hand away whenever I tried to show him that the carrots should go with the pointy end down, as the "leaves" make it harder for them to fit inside the holes.

Since he didn't appreciate my intervention, I just watched him play with his wooden vegetables for about ten to fifteen minutes, that is a huuuge accomplishment, because at his age it is hard to get a baby's interest for more than a couple of minutes. Little Man just looooved what he was doing at the time.

When he lost interest, I put all the parts back inside our toy storage box waiting to see whether he looks for them or not. He found other stuff to keep himself occupied with, so the toys will remain there until next weekend when we'll open our "treasure box" again and find something else to play with and exercise his motor skills further.

It must be difficult to find occupations that will interest them at an age when they will set sail for new discoveries every day. :)

Feed his curious soul as much as you can. He will gradually learn what makes him excited more because most things will at his age. Toddlers are the most interesting lot of children... They want to be so much in control of their environment and that gets them a few bruises and some valuable lessons 😊

I remember when my kids were that age. Such a great time. Enjoy it as much as you can!
