Transforming a Boring Fried Fish Into Something Livelier and Flavorful

There are times that we have a lot of leftover food because of how little we eat now. Even I don't eat that much, and neither do my oldies, we just want to avoid eating too much rice, that's why. And because of that, even a half kilo of fish tends to last longer. Because of that, getting tired of the repeated dishes can't be avoided.

Of course, we have lots of ways to make those dishes livelier and make them into different dishes. The only thing is, it's hard to think of what other ingredients to mix on those dishes. But at least we still find ways, and thanks to that, we don't have to repeatedly eat the same thing until the next day. Just a few steps, and a dish can be transformed into a complete new recipe.

So anyway, at lunch time, we still had leftover fried fish from yesterday, and Mom doesn't want to eat it anymore as "just a fried fish". So, I have to come up with a different dish where I can still mix that fried fish into it. We've been eating it since yesterday during lunch and dinner, so I understand that she wants to taste something different.

At first, I suggested making a "sarsiado" so that we could have soup. This kind of recipe is really good, and with just a few ingredients, you can transform your simple fried fish into a different one. But Mom doesn't want that, unfortunately.

I suggested a few more dishes like "Bulanglang," but I ended up with a Fish Omellete. But we didn't use flour on this one, just an egg and some seasonings.

Here are the ingredients:

Leftover Fried Fish
Two medium-sized egg
Two small Onions
Pepper and Salt
1 tbsp of Cooking Oil

Here are our main ingredients. The ingredients are really dull, but they'll taste more flavorful once we combine them all.

Now, prepare your two forks because we will dissect this fish now, lol. And just like this, we have to remove all the bone from it and turn it into this. I still use my hand to thoroughly remove all the bones from the fish. We don't want any bones in our dish, yeah? And here's the shredded fried fish.

Then I proceeded to cut my onion, I minced it just like this. Not that totally minced, just enough that we can still taste it. As for the egg, I also prepared it because the process will be faster after this. I just put pepper, some MSG, and salt in it.

In a pan, heat it, add cooking oil, and sauté the onions for a second. Originally, it should have had tomatoes and garlic, but sadly, we don't have those in the kitchen. And that tomato is really not good for Mom, so we don't buy it anymore. But it will taste better if only we have that, sad.

I adjusted the heat here and put it on low. Then I put the shredded leftover fried fish in the pan. I will sauté it together with the onion for just two minutes. I just want it to be softer. And because the fish already has salt, I didn't put any salt in it, just pepper, the more the spicier.

We'll need the fork here for mixing, so get it ready. After two minutes of stirring it in a pan, I put the beaten egg into it and mixed it using this fork until it was well combined. By the way, the heat was still on low because I didn't want it to overcook. After a second, I just flip it and turn off the stove.

And tadaaaaaan! Here's the finished product. From boring fried fish to a tastier omelette fish, and to make it more livelier, use ketchup or Mang Tomas and eat it with steamed white rice. This is very different from the leftover fried fish that we had yesterday. It transforms into a different dish that Mom loves. Mom, give me a 👍 for this Hell yeah! ╮(^▽^)╭.

Sometimes, we really have to be resourceful when it comes to cooking. I am really not a good cook, but making a simple dish like this can make a big difference to the one who eats it. I'm glad my oldies like it. ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

It's a sign ruffa na pwede ka nang mag-asawa. Sabi nga nila "the way to a man's heart is through their stomach." So go...

Very true talaga yung pagiging resourceful lalo na sa mga bilihin ngayon, kung bibili sa karenderya kunti lang yung serving dahil mahal daw yung ingredients. Much better nalang na maging resourceful sa bahay para less gasto.
