Wallet with Tetra Pak ǀ Cartera con Envase Tetra Pak

Greetings, creative folks at DIYHub! Today I want to share with you a project that I really enjoyed doing. It's a beautiful wallet made from a Tetra Pak container and fabric scraps. Let's take a look at the materials needed and the step-by-step.

¡Saludos, gente creativa de DIYHub!El día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un proyecto que me gustó mucho realizar. Se trata de una hermosa cartera hecha con envase Tetra Pak y retazos de tela. Vamos a ver los materiales necesarios y el paso a paso.

We will need / Vamos a necesitar:

Tetra Pak milk carton / Caja de leche tetra Pak
Fabric scraps / Retazo de tela
Decorative ribbon and decorative bead / Cinta decorativa y cuenta decorativa
Liquid silicone, scissors, and hook-and-loop fastener / Silicón líquido, tijeras y cierre mágico

We start by cutting off both the top and bottom of a milk or juice carton, as shown in the image. Next, we make a crosswise cut to create the flap of the wallet.

Iniciamos recortando tanto el tope como la base de una caja de leche o jugo, como vemos en la imagen; del mismo modo, vamos a hacerle un corte de manera trasversal para lo que será la solapa de la cartera.

Place the cardboard on a piece of fabric. In this case, I used a blue floral scrap I had at home, but it's a matter of taste. Make sure to leave at least 1 cm or more of excess fabric around the edges so that the piece can be glued properly.

Presentamos el cartón sobre un retazo de tela, en este casi utilicé un retazo azul floreado que tenía en casa, pero es cuestión de gustos. Nos cercioraos de dejar un excedente en las orillas de al menos 1 cm o más para el correcto pegado de la pieza.

We trim the corners slightly, as shown in the image, so that there is not too much excess fabric when gluing.

Recortamos un poco las puntas de las esquinas como vemos en la imagen, para que no haya tanto excedente de tela al momento de pegar.

We glue it with liquid silicone, although it can also be glued with white glue and even with the heat of an iron, taking the necessary care.

Fijamos con silicón líquido, aunque también se puede pegar con pega blanca e incluso con el calor de una plancha, teniendo el debido cuidado.

We take a scrap piece to line the inside of the piece so that the work looks neat. It can be a piece of fabric of a different color or it can be the same type of fabric as the outside.

Tomamos un retazo para forrar la parte interna de la pieza y que el trabajo quede prolijo. Puede ser un trozo de tela de otro color o bien puede ser el mismo tipo de tela de la parte exterior.

It's time to make the sides. To do this, we're going to cut some pieces of cardboard. One of them will be the width of the fold that will form the base of the wallet, and the other will be the height of the fold that precedes what will be the top of the wallet, as we can see in the image.

Es hora de hacer los laterales, para esto vamos a cortar unos trozos de cartón, uno de ellos tendrá de ancho el tamaño del pliegue que será la base de la cartera y el otro el alto del pliegue que antecede la que será la tapa de la cartera, como vemos en la imagen.

Next, cover the outside with fabric, and preferably the inside as well for a better finish. Make sure to glue only the top edge of the piece, leaving the other three edges free to be glued later to the main cardboard piece. Take a close look at the images below.

Posteriormente forramos con tela por fuera y preferiblemente también por dentro para un mejor acabado, y nos cercioramos de pegar solo el borde superior de la pieza, dejando los otros tres bordes libres para ser pegados luego en la pieza de cartón principal. Es necesario observar bien las imágenes a continuación.

Once all the edges have been glued to the main piece, fold the edges in the middle as shown in the image.

Una vez pegados todos los bordes a la pieza principal, hacemos un doblez en el centro de los bordes como vemos en la imagen.

Finally, we attach a hook-and-loop fastener so that the items we put in our wallet are securely fastened.

Finalmente colocamos un cierre mágico para que los artículos que introduzcamos en nuestra cartera queden bien asegurados.

As a finishing touch, we add a decorative ribbon and a decorative bead to suit each person's taste. It is ideal to combine colors well.

Como toque final le colocamos una cinta decorativa y una cuenta decorativa a gusto de cada quien. Es ideal combinar bien los colores.
