The joy of the farmer is when his cattle yield. For breeders of cattle, of course, they will be very happy when they know that the cows that are being kept have calf. Likewise, we, apart from farming, also raise cows. For us, cows are savings that we will use only when we really need them. We raise a female cow who happened to be pregnant at the time of purchase. We note the calf was born on December 10 at night.
So even at night we had to go to the barn as soon as we knew our cow was about to give birth. Cows that are about to give birth should be waited for so that we know whether the birth process of the calf is going smoothly or experiencing problems. If not, then the cow that was born was not safe.
Fortunately, the cows we raise give birth safely. When about to give birth to a cow sitting or lying down. After the amniotic fluid came out, the cow started having contractions and we just watched while encouraging the cow.
Moments later the calf came out. The part that comes out first is the head. When trying to take out the head of the cow, it looks painful and screams loudly. The snout of the cow is parallel to the front legs of the baby cow. After the head comes out, the cow's body will easily come out. This process is very natural and we are grateful that there are no significant obstacles.
After the calf comes out, the mother tries to clean the mucus by licking it clean. The calf tried to stand on its feet for the first time. Here we usually try to encourage the baby cows, While we were still staggering we already watched with joy. We are sure this little cow will be strong to stand and walk. Turns out our guess was right. The calf can stand firmly and begin to learn to look for the mother's nipple.
After making sure the calf has found a source of food from its mother, we leave it and the next day we check the calf looks healthy.
