"La Sierra" [Eng/Esp]

The Cerro El Copey - Jóvito Villalba National Park or "La Sierra ", as we all know it on the island, is located in the capital of our state (La Asunción), in a small town of the same name.

It is one of our favorite places to visit and be in contact with nature. In addition, due to its altitude, it gives us a completely different climate and vegetation than the one we have every day on the island. In fact, as you go up the steep road full of curves until you reach the park you will notice the changes in the landscape and climate.

Surrounded by huge trees and vines that hang from one side to another, ferns and all the vegetation of the rainforest is the perfect place to spend a different day, disconnected from everything and everyone.

It is a place full of peace, where you breathe a completely different air than in the city and just getting there your mood changes completely.

El Parque Nacional Cerro El Copey - Jóvito Villalba o "La Sierra", como lo conocemos todos en la Isla, está ubicado en la capital de nuestro estado (La Asunción), en un pueblito que recibe el mismo nombre.

Es uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para visitar y estar en contacto con la naturaleza. Además por su altura nos regala un clima y vegetación completamente diferente al que día a día tenemos en la isla. De hecho a medida que vas subiendo por la empinada carretera llena de curvas hasta llegar al parque se van notando los cambios en el paisaje y en el clima.

Rodeados de enormes árboles y lianas que cuelgan de un lado a otro, helechos y toda la vegetación propia de la selva tropical viene siendo el lugar perfecto para pasar un día diferente, desconectados de todo y de todos.

Es un lugar lleno de paz, en el que se respira un aire completamente diferente al de la ciudad y es que sólo llegar ahí tu estado de ánimo cambia por completo.

And the first thing you notice is a lot of silence, except for the sound of some birds and insects walking on the leaves on the ground, you do not hear anything else, which I really enjoy and that along with the shade produced by the treetops gives a totally magical touch to the place.

Seriously, if you stay in a contemplative state you feel that at any moment a fairy is going to come out of the trees. Either that or a serial killer! But don't worry, there are Park Guards making rounds throughout the day, so they offer some security and even though they are not in the best conditions, just being in contact with nature is well worth the visit.

My kids love the place, in fact we have been visiting it since they were little and it is one of their favorite places to enjoy a different kind of day.

Y lo primero que notas es mucho silencio, salvo el sonido de algunos pájaros e insectos caminando sobre las hojas en suelo, no escuchas nada más, cosa que disfruto muchísimo y que junto con la sombra que producen las copas de los árboles le da un toque totalmente mágico al lugar.

Es que en serio si te quedas en estado contemplativo sientes que en cualquier momento va a salir un Hada de entre los árboles. Eso o un asesino serial!! Pero no se preocupen, hay Guarda Parques haciendo rondas durante todo el día, así que ofrecen cierta seguridad y a pesar de no estar en las mejores condiciones, el sólo hecho de poder estar en contacto con la naturaleza, bien vale la visita.

A mis hijos les encanta el lugar, de hecho lo visitamos desde que están pequeñitos y es de sus lugares favoritos para disfrutar de un día diferente.
