Splinterlands: Over One Million USD Awarded

Splinterlands has reached a benchmark and to my surprise I don't see many speaking up about this awesome achievement. As the screenshot above shows, (using my best doctor evil voice) over One Million USD has been given out to tournament players to date. With the increasing USD value of SPS that amount is going to increase drastically over the upcoming months. In fact over 1.1 Million USD has been given out and there is still $230,000* more in upcoming tournaments schedualed. Its a great time to be a Splinterlands tournament player. Be warned competition is fierce and we wouldn't want it any other way. Luckily there's tournaments for all variants of entry. Ranging from Novice to Champion, there's a tournament for everyone. Novice tournaments allow players to use level one cards and Diamond tournaments allow players to use fully maxed cards so choose your tournaments wisely. You don't want to enter a Diamond level tournament with underpowered cards, that wouldn't turn out so well for your little monsters.

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is an online blockchain game built on the Hive Network. It utilizes NFT's for game play. These NFT's and other in game assets are tradable and have real monetary value. Click here to play or to invest in Splinterlands. Play for free or pay $10 usd and start earning today!

What Is SPS?

SPS is the governance token for the Hive Blockchain game known as Splinterlands. SPS can be purchased on exchanges such as Hive-Engine or earned in tournaments. Currently there is a year long airdrop for the token that is on day 79/365. To participate in the SPS airdrop one needs to hold Splinterland assets which include but may not be limited to Cards / DEC / SPT / Land / Titles / Booster and other in game assets.

Sometimes I go to Twitter. It always ends a few minutes into as I realize I'm not getting paid for this bullshit.

I feel like tournaments appeal to a very small % of splinterlands players.
Tournaments seem like an exclusive way for the big collection owners to just make more money.

I wish that tournaments could be a bit different so that more players could have a fighting chance for the top 3 prizes.

Also ain't no bronze player going to have over 1400 SPS staked.

I agree, what is needed to enter these tournaments is out of portion with what I thought the orginal design of them were for. Staked SPS for tournament entry should be based on league level not the funds that are in the tournament.

Its ok to have some one off tournaments with larger payouts require more SPS staked but "regular" Bronze tornaments shouldn't need thousands of dollars worth of SPS staked to join (I see a bronze tournament that needs 3700 SPS staked).

I would even be in favor to drop the Bronze tournament prize pool but increase the amount of tournaments if it meant the SPS staked needed to play them would drop. $250 USD for a Bronze tournament is still a decent amount and that should drop the SPS stake requirment to enter by allot.

When I talked about this in maverick discord channel one day, I opened up a bronze tournament where 58 people were entered, and only 8 of them were bronze accounts . . .

Splitting the prizes between more tournaments is actually a good idea

I remember the convo. If there is only 8/58 players in a bronze tournament actually being bronze level players then that is a sure sign something is broken.

I believe the above solves the problem. Mix more real time tournaments in the mix as well. I know they aren't as popular as 24 hour tournaments but if there were a mixture of tournaments starting at the same time the ones holding the most will opt in to play the higher paying tournaments over the lower paying ones. With 24 hour tournaments it leaves plenty of time for all the haves to play in the have nots tournaments.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a champion player wanting to play a Bronze level game but on the flip side of that coin, players shouldn't expect to be able to play in every single event (is unrealistic and a tournament lobby that caters to that is only hurting itself).

It's a great achievement, it's true, but I don't know if the rules are clear enough for new users, it becomes a bit difficult to understand which Cards, levels or elements you can use. But this also happens a bit in the leagues, you get more than one surprise.

The tournaments are good and distribute more than a million dollars an incredible achievement that will fall short when the end of the year arrives. I think they should be similar to poker tournaments and there should be free for those who start and also tournaments sponsored by other websites but without entry.
Maybe also tournaments to stake a certain amount of coins.

A Splinterlands tournament lobby cloning a Poker lobby is exactly how I would like Splinterland tournaments to be. It would solve allot of issues. For example if there were a handful of real time tournaments starting within the same time frame it would mean players would need to pick and choose which ones to enter.

This would likely have the affect of more bronze players in bronze tournaments / less Champion players in Bronze tournaments. When forced to choose Champion players are going to play in the tournaments that have the most rewards in them. Bronze players will obviously pick a Bronze or Novice tournament to play in.

Splinterlands will be breaking $2 Million in tournament prizes before the end of November I think. With the big increase in the price of SPS, all the new tournaments will be big prizes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see a $500,000 single tournament sometime next month. Maybe even a $1 Million tournament. The publicity for a single $1 Million tournament would be huge!

I stopped bothering with tournaments since the time required was fairly large. I am not sure if the recent increase in users has made it harder to rank high enough to get a reward.

Splinterland has reached an unparalleled level, and little by little we have been making updates that have given us all a great benefit.

Greetings @rentmoney.
