How do you pack everything you need in one bag for a winter weekend getaway in another city in your country

Seeing this weeks post prompts from the #minimalist community reminded me of my elder sister. If you are like my sister you would probably not be able to relate to this question because she packs for a weekend trip like she plans to stay a few years where ever she is going to for the weekend. Lol, funny huh? But you should see her pack, she packs like 30 backup clothes for just a weekend trip of three days, it’s really funny to watch her pack for a trip, and then when she has to go for a few weeks she ends up taking More than one bag with her.

Well for me I do not enjoy the idea of dragging so many luggages with me when traveling, left to me I would travel with only my strap bag across me chest. I try my best to pack more basics and necessities.

What do I mean by more basics,
I’ll tell you;

If I have to pack for a winter weekend trip to another state first thing I’ll do is pack a joggers set, this way I can wear it to stay warm one of the days.

Next i would pack a Jean trouser, I find this very durable and necessary because with one pair of Jean you can alternate more than one shirt or top.

Since the weather is going to be chilling and cold I would pack two lovely sweat shirts with long hands, and two white polo shirts, these can be worn with the Jean trouser and styled beautifully just incase I find that I need to go somewhere fancy during my trip.

I’ll also travel wearing a white sneakers, so that I have a shoe to wear all through my three days stay. That way there is extra room in my bag and I can also pack along with me a sandal or a slippers to alternate the sneakers with.

I’ll also pack a little makeup kit, nothing too much just the basics I would need to beat my face moderately and neatly, I’ll also pack my skin care products but not with the full bottles or jars, I find extracting some amount into a small fancy bottle made for such purpose very helpful, that way I don’t have to carry along with me the whole bottle of cream
Or jar of soap, and I save space in my bag.

A few underwear and two light weight sleep wears and I am good to go.
I also love taking my own toiletries like tissue paper, wipes, sanitizers and disinfectants but all in small and easy to pack quantities since it’s just a few days. A small personal face towel for my face cleaning.

Packing this way should leave you with just one bag to take along with you for your weekend trip

Thank you for reading this post
See you in my next

Hello @reineesmay,
It's easy to try to pack excess and back up items, especially pieces of clothing. I learned over the years that the clothes might not be so important. Just make sure it's versatile so you can dress it up more elegant if you need to.
I like your points for the winter trip, something that you have to be realistic about, because you'll be covered up most of the time anyway:)
Thank you for taking part in this initiative!

My wife packs for outings like your sister. It's frustrating, but also a bit creepy if I'm being honest. There are times when she packs all this stuff and she never uses any of it. Other times, she had to use it all. I'm not sure if the minimalist life is for me as I have kids. It'd be interesting to check it out though.

I definitely led a minimalist life when I was younger. I'd pack up my belongings in a Toyota Celica when I moved to a new town or pack a bag like you mentioned when traveling for the weekend. That was the life. Now, I live a different life with different requirements.

Thanks for the refreshing article. Have a great day.

I know people like your sister hehe.
Well, one man's meat another man's poison.

I think it's best to just take the important things and do some calculations like you did to let everything fit into a bag.

Sneakers are a really great minimalist option, they are useful for so many options, and I like your idea of packing some lighter weight sandals as an alternative option. Your story of your sister made me smile 😍
