morning face

Hey guys

What did you have for breakfast?
Well today I woke up craving Akara and bread. By the way what do you call Ankara in your language?. I grew up knowing it as Akara and not until when I was almost a full adult I started hearing its name English name is Bean buns?. Even after knowing the name I can’t see myself calling it that. It will always and forever remain Akara to me.

Well this morning I woke up craving it. As an African woman and over zealous wife that I wanted to be, I opted to make some home made ones. It was until my partner laughed at me and asked me if “to do work is hungering me’ before i realized the work that was involved in it also couple with the fact that I did not have any bean flour left in the house, I would have to soak, peel and wash the beans and then blend it. As soon as he laughed at me, my sense returned and we got dressed and drove to the nearest Akara seller.

So typical this is how every Akara sellers shade is set up in my country. You hardly see them indoor because this setup just has its own vibe Abeq,

If you get what I mean

The table is usually always listed with some other food items that can be eaten with the Akara, items like pap aka Akamu the partner to Akara Lol,
Agidi-(please what do you call agidi in your language?,I also know it as Eko). Some portable sized bread, these type are always so soft and very fitting for the hot Akara.

This table also had some fried potatoes too

This particular Akara stand had two set of Akara on the fire, the big size ad the small size. Some persons actually like the big size but me I prefer the small sizes because it’s just the perfect size for my mouth.

I bought $1/#500 worth of Akara for myself and my husband as well as two soft small bread. We didn’t even wait till we got home before we launched it. We started eating it right from the car. In my experience Akara is best and sweeter when it is eaten hot. Waiting till we get home could give it enough time to get cold and we couldn’t have that.

It was a yummy breakfast eaten in the confines of our car. On this note, good morning to everyone and have a lovely rest of your day.

Bread with Akara, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I recall being addicted to this combo while I was in high school, and I once arrived late to school due to this treat. I don't really fancy it again, perhaps because of the beans; I'm not a fan of beans....

Unfortunately, I didn't have breakfast today, so I'm not having a good day and it's the first time I've seen the akara you mentioned.

This made me remember our akara seller while I was in high school. It was fun then, queuing at the woman’s joint to have a taste of it.😂 Omoor... the combination of bread and akara sweet die, especially when the bread is so soft and the akara is soft.

Thanks for bringing this 😋to our view @reineesmay

Omo I can't even see myself calling it Bean buns when I know I can pronounce the Akara very well 😂😂

I love my Akara mostly with custard with enough milk in it🤤🤤

My dear I made one silly mistake. I can barely comment on posts. I have limited power here. It will be for a while.

My mum doesn't mind that whole peel the beans process and I sometimes wonder if I'll ever learn how to get it done with half her speed and efficiency😂. Thank God for beans flour🤲🏾😂.

Akara couldn't taste better with bread than with that sandwich formation you have there😂.

I feel you please!😂 Personally, I eat akara and bread or pap every Saturday morning (that’s just like my staple Saturday food). Here is a tip; you can buy akara beans in the market and grind it to flour and store it in an air tight container so you can prepare akara whenever you want. Plus it’s cheaper and more economical than the beans flour at the supermarket.
