Feathered Friends: Romantic Partridge

My entry to @nelinoevaโ€™s @featheredfriends contest. Check ๐Ÿ‘‰ Here for more information.

Theme

The Tail

The little male partridge (also called a grouse) makes a lovely display of fanning out his tail feathers when trying to attract one of the two females as a romantic partner.

The female birds are ignoring him or maybe just playing hard to get.

He is puffed up twice his size and strutting around.

Although the partridge, in his frenzied romantic state, has the most fanned out tail I have in my photo folder, the blue jays and brown-headed cowbird make a calm display of their tails. They are more interested in the seeds on the ground than looking for a partner.

The Great Blue Heron has long legs and a short tail. He shows it as he flies off across the river.

Haha, it is not easy to make the females to like you, although the grouse has a remarkable appearance.
Lovely shots, Jo!

Me too, feeling sorry for him. The other day I watched a program on the telly about the birds and how some prepared for wooing. Amazing work was done to prepare the place and even to decorate it only to attract the female. And when the female showed no interested, how not to feel sorry for the guy who worked so hard. :-)

Great "Tail" photos Jo! The Partridge is a pretty bird as are all of the birds you have shown here. I love that you caught the Partridge with his tail fanned out! Wishing you a beautiful week! ๐Ÿ’•

Thanks Dee. ๐Ÿ’žThe little partridge was trying so hard to impress the ladies. This is the time of year they come out of the forest to eat the wild apples.

You're very welcome Jo! They are cool looking little birds. Don't think I've ever seen one here. I hope he made an impression and got a girlfriend. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’•

Your grouse is a killer shot!!! Great job on it and a great catch on the heron!

I love your blue jays with their striking good looks. Cowbird looks a little lost in there with all that colorful plumage around him! :)

Thanks Denise @dswigle. ๐ŸŒธI would have liked to have gotten closer to the little lover but in his state I wasnโ€™t sure what he would do. :)

The cowbird does look out of his comfort zone. The blue jays didnโ€™t seem to mind him joining the dinner party.

It really is pretty funny to see how out of place he looks and he didn't give a care! :)

The more I look at the cowbird, the funnier it gets. He looks like he hasnโ€™t any idea how he got there. :))

Nice bird tail photos, Jo, and of course, I like the Partridge's tail most. Poor guy, he tries so hard to show his beauty and is ignored, but that's part of the game I believe ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you're having great Autumn days, dear Jo ๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒž

Hi Hannes, The poor little partridge was strutting his best stuff. Now is the time of year I see them often in the trees as they come out of the forest for the apples.

Itโ€™s been raining this morning but still not too bad a day forecast.

I hope you have time for some outdoor excursions, dear Hannes, and to enjoy the autumn colors.๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

Thanks so much for your generosity and goodies. Always appreciated.๐ŸŒบ

Hi Jo,

at the moment I have only the weekends and I hope next weekend will be nice enough for a little trip somewhere ๐Ÿ™‚

Our day was sunny but now in the afternoon it gets windy and I think it will rain later.

I hope your weather forecast was right and you're having a nice Wednesday ๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒž
