A Day in Hamburg

Hello friends. Last November I visited the city of Hamburg, which is the second largest city in Germany. I arrived here by train and got off at the station. Compared to Berlin's station, Hamburg's station is a bit smaller.

As I moved away from the station, I came to an intersection with palm trees. It's worth noting that Hamburg is a city in the north and palm trees don't usually grow here. A bit further from the station, you'll find Wasserschloss, one of Hamburg's significant landmarks. It's usually crowded with tourists, but there was no one there during my visit.

Hamburg boasts more bridges than even Venice, with the Speicherstadt area, where warehouses are located, beginning here. There are still places where cargo is stored, as in the past. These blocks have signs indicating the warehouses. Since this is a storage area, all these signs point to warehouses. Customs are also located here.

A bit further along in the Speicherstadt area, there's an entrance to a café where people go up to the terrace to take photos. Right next to it, there's a shop selling tea and various souvenirs. It smells wonderful, with rows of spices and teas. I sat down at a restaurant and ordered a hot drink. The terrace seemed closed, but they allowed me to visit. This is what the terrace looks like, offering a view that everyone takes photos of.

The bridges in Speicherstadt offer fantastic views, such as the Elbphilharmonie. On the right side, you'll find St. Michael's Church, a Protestant Baroque church that is a symbol of Hamburg. With its unique architecture, it's worth a visit.

I later passed by St. Peter's Church, where you can climb to the roof. It may take a while, but you can see Hamburg through small windows. When we go up, all of Hamburg is beneath our feet, as this used to be the tallest structure in Hamburg from the past to the present.

Then I arrived at the location of Hamburg's city hall. When I visited, stalls were being set up for the Christmas market and the Christmas celebrations would start soon. There was a place near the square selling snacks and sandwiches. A Christmas tree was to be set up, its skeleton was already built. The city hall looks beautiful from every angle. And nearby, right next to the city hall, there's a place called shopping street, with lots of shops. It's mainly filled with luxury stores.

After the city hall, I moved to Hamburg's most expensive street. It's right next to the city hall and luxury stores. There's always a long line next to Louis Vuitton in the summers.

This is the inner courtyard of the city hall. In the courtyard, there's this beauty, it doesn't work in winter, but it's very beautiful in summer. The statue in the middle belongs to Hygieia. Initially, Mercury was supposed to be the guiding figure of the fountain, but after the cholera epidemic of 1892, the choice was made in favor of the Greek goddess of health, Hygieia. It was believed that the water flowing from the bowl in Hygieia's hand had healing powers.

And here is St. Nikolai Church, a Gothic-style church, located near Speicherstadt. An incredibly impressive church. Damaged during World War II bombings, the building was later restored to its original form. Today, it's dedicated to World War II and turned into a museum.

These are the houses that make Speicherstadt recognizable, with canals and the Alster Lake. And there are private apartments, prices start at one million euros and they look very beautiful.

I went up to the Philharmonic. I bought my ticket. You go up to the observation platform with escalators. It was already dark and I could see the city lit up. There are usually many tourists here, but it was quiet due to the cold weather in the evening and it was incredibly beautiful.

From here, you could see all of Hamburg's landmarks, St. Nicholas Church, the tower of the city hall and Speicherstadt. And the Ferris wheel looked really beautiful. Behind me was the port.

Hamburg is unlike any other city, considered a gem in Germany with its ultra-modern structure and architecture. I went up to the observation platform or into the philharmonic. There was a souvenir shop right next to it.

While I was there, I also visited the Hamburg port. It's quite a big port, about 1 km long. There are different ships here and a ship museum. At night, the city hall looked like this.

Hamburg is truly vast. It's not possible to see it all at once. This is my favorite city, the only disadvantage being that it's very cold and living here is not very comfortable due to the cold. I bought a drink from Rathaus and tried to warm up. It was a beautiful day. I hope to visit again soon.
