-I don't think you should do that -Marcus slipped his hands into his khaki pants and moved his pupils from left to right.

Susy, without turning around, held the mysterious silver key, walking the human phalanx key ring between her fingers.

The gloomy atmosphere of the ruined house did not help Marcus' confidence; standing with his back to the blonde teenager, one foot toward her and one toward the door.

-What do you think it is? -In a deep voice, the almost still girl raised the key, placing it between her face and the gold engraved box.
-I'm not sure -he said with a grim look on his face- but such a pretty box and such a sinister key in an abandoned place don't bode well.

The mossy walls emitted a sticky humidity, and on one of the walls, written with some charcoal point, read "The remains are the chest that keeps the soul".

-We'd better leave -she smiled and put the key in her pocket- I'll keep it so that no one opens it, lest this be Pandora's box.

He took her by the hand, he didn't think he knew her just a couple of hours in the corner bakery. He was enjoying his coffee and a bagete, when she stumbled across his table and spilled coffee on his pants.

She lived on the opposite corner from the bakery, in her school uniform she still told him she would pay for the laundry, if he would accompany her to see a treasure in the abandoned house nearby.

The girl's aura and the enthusiasm with which she made the proposal, was the reason why he followed her to the gloomy place.

-Did I tell you how I found this key? -*she asked".

He was already on the sidewalk relieved to be out of that place. With his head he made a gesture of denial without further interest in the matter.

-A sorceress gave it to me, she told me that I should go to someone older and that I would find the answers I was looking for inside it -she said, staring at him.
-And in the middle of the 21st century you still believe in that nonsense? -He looked at her disapprovingly -And what were you asking anyway?

She started walking down the sidewalk, balancing on the edge, her arms outstretched as if she were on a tightrope.

-Stuff -she laughed -girl stuff.

Marcus looked up and remembered he had a heavy report to deliver to his boss.

-Well, I've delivered, you don't need to pay me anything, the coffee has already dried -he started walking in the opposite direction to her.

For a moment, they were at the distance of a lamppost with the old house in between them. They turned, looked into each other's brown eyes, then she smiled, tilted her face a little and raised her hand with a sign of peace and said goodbye.

He raised his hand and for a moment felt deeply inspired and confused with the slender new acquaintance.

As he started to walk, Marcus heard footsteps behind him; at a run, Susy returned to where he was.

-I don't need to open the box -she said, smiling - I already know the answer.

Surprised, he just said, "And what is it?

-It's you -she blushed a little and ran back the other way.
-And what's the question? -shouted the boy as he watched the girl walk away.
-I'll tell you this afternoon at the bakery -he heard in the distance, while the girl vanished like a mirage.

Marcus stopped thoughtfully, believing that they were playing a juvenile joke on him, then he looked at his watch and remembered the report, he hurried his pace.

The intrigue of knowing what the question was, as well as the mystery of the box and key, was enough to accept the appointment at the bakery.
