Are we, the parents, agents of nullification of our children's intrinsic motivations?

Greetings again my dear friends I hope you are all very well, in reality our responsibility as parents is immense and, therefore, of great influence for the development in all senses of our children, however, it is very important to constantly ask ourselves:

How should we take our responsibility towards our children?

Our responsibility will always be present, what may vary is the way we assume it, that is to say, with little, medium or great intensity, undoubtedly, we will know this as we decipher the temperament of our children, although we must also take into account the management of our emotions as this will affect their behavior, now as parents:

What should we do so as not to override the intrinsic motivations of our children?

We all live immersed in the constant changes generated in societies, above all, those changes that are developed from the technological field which impacts on the social-cultural in the education of our children, every human being is born with its principles of intrinsic motivations which are changing by the influence of their environment, and of course, by their parents, both guidelines may diverge or converge in order to override the intrinsic motivations of people.

It is possible that one of the main causes that leads us as parents to be limiting agents of the intrinsic motivations of our children is the fact of the generation of mercantile values which leads to emotions linked to this aspect, that is to say, mercantile, it is not strange that we observe more and more relationships, of any kind, with expiration date, is it because society pushes us to it? Or do we simply get carried away by what the demos do or what is fashionable?

We can notice with concern that nowadays relationships between parents and children are generated with weaker and more flexible bonds, we can get our children used to it without realizing it, for example, sometimes we propose them that they can have their toys or electronic devices if they do their school activities or pass their exams, in this way we are pushing them towards this mercantilist culture that every day is gaining strength in our relationship between parents and children.

Our children with our help should realize that the first and only motivation to do their homework or any other activity is the benefit they will get, both intellectually and in any other sense, in short, encourage their intrinsic motivations that come to the surface, without the need to offer them anything in return, then they can play with their toys, but not for the fact of getting them as a prize and exchange, but as a genuine action of them.

As human beings, in addition to intrinsic motivations, we will also have those that are called extrinsic, the latter (extrinsic) refers to the motivational stimuli coming from outside the person, i.e. from their environment, for example, as adults we must work to generate money, and money is an external motivational factor as it serves to cover our needs, and as a reward.

Intrinsic motivations can be logically linked to those motivations that come from within the individual, without considering them as some kind of external reward, therefore, we can relate them to those desires for personal growth of people, we do without receiving anything in return just for the fact of fulfilling one of our dreams, so we can link our children from these two forms of motivations both extrinsic and intrinsic, stressing that we should not become limiting agents or nullifiers of the intrinsic motivations of our children.

Until another opportunity my dear friends.
