It takes personal decision and time to let go of beliefs

I think this is why some people find it hard to change their beliefs. Because it requires a conscious effort and I also think it depends a lot on how emotionally attached to that belief they are, the more emotional attachment they are to something I think the more difficult it becomes to leave it for something new.
