Challenge Accepted

Hello everyone this is a delayed response, but better late than never as they say. I will be answering @explorewithsasha nomination to join this challenge.

Here are the 3 questions that I need to answer

1.) What have you done in November?

My life began to change dramatically last November. It had been my first month since joining Hive. My mundane home and work schedules take on a new meaning. Now I'm planning what I'll write and publish, as well as when I'll upload it. Random Hive meet-ups and dates, and of course, my @hivecebubloggers family was another great and thoughtful group of folks that I met.

2.) What are your plans for December and the New Year?

I had no big plans for this December. Aside from our Hive Wonderland Christmas Party.

We did not expect the damage from Typhoon. It pretty much took half of my whole December. Living without running water and electricity every day had become my reality. Thankfully, this situation was temporary, and I have the nicest neighbors to celebrate Christmas with.

Regarding the New Year, I also planned to welcome it here with my neighbors, who have become like family over the last 2 weeks. I am also planning to get a month of vacation leave to spend with my family back home and want to bring my daughter here to Cebu to spend time with me.
I am very excited about that.

3.) How's 2021 treated you so far?

I pretty much learn a lot. Every year, we learn new things and strive to be the best versions of ourselves.

2021 has been a difficult year for me.

First, just this February, I lost an important person in my life, and that was my grandfather. To me, he is my "papa" father. He is essentially my parent and has cared for me since I was a child. (I wrote a blog about this too, " Grandfather’s Love " ). He passed away in the middle of the pandemic last February 2021.

Second, I tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus last August. It was a watershed point in my life. That has taught me a lot about life. Now that I am more content and appreciate everything in the present, I have become more health-conscious. It made me understand how brief life can be.

Lastly, being hit by a super typhoon is definitely on this list. Thankfully, I only have to deal with the absence of running water, no electricity, and a lack of communication signal. But many who lost their homes, some even lost lives in other areas of the country, are still trying to live life every day to overcome the destruction caused by the typhoon. It is heartbreaking.
In a few days, the year 2021 will come to a close. A lot has transpired, and all I can say now is that I'm hoping for a better New Year. Let's hope it'll be a little lighter and brighter in 2022.

Two additional questions

.

1.) Where do you want to go in 2022?

The USA! I would like to be able to travel to the States. I have been waiting for it for almost 2 years now. I’m praying 2022 will grant me this wish so I can reunite with the love of my life.

2.) If you could celebrate New Year's Eve with five people of your choice, who would they be and why? (alive or dead, celebrities or anyone else).

It will be my grandpa, my grandma, my mom, my daughter, and my fiancee. These five people are my priorities. They come first, no matter what. It would be nice if my grandpa was still around. I could make this possible.

@explorewithsasha's obligatory questions that are part of this challenge.

1.) Do you support mandatory COVID-19 vaccination in the workplace?

Yes, I support it. For me, viruses are much deadlier than vaccines. Vaccines were made with full experimentation and testing to be safe for everyone. Since viruses don’t have a cure, we need to be immune to them. Thus, it is the only way to stop it.

2.) Tell us about your biggest disappointment and how you bounce back from it?

This question is so hard to answer. I have a lot. I remember back when I was about to turn 25 years old, I experienced what they call a quarter-life crisis. I am pretty much happy with my life and I am content with my work. Suddenly, something stroked me and it was the life I had missed for the past 25 years. I'm thinking about how I should have done "this" and "that" while I was still young. I should be like "this" now.

What I mean is, I got jealous of people I know that are already successful at my age. My classmates are now living the life I should also have since we have the same profession. I am questioning if I have made the best decisions in the past. All this boiling up makes me so depressed.

How I got back from it took years. I taught myself self-love. I began to put more value on what I could do and always pat my back if I did something to be proud of. I never listened to negativity and learned to always see the positive side.

It took years until I could say I accepted everything and that I could not go back in time anymore. I just need to be the best version of myself next time I stumble. Looking back a few years ago, I love myself more now.

I didn't realize you were trying to go to the USA. I myself don't enjoy life here, but I really wanted to give my daughters American passports and escape being stranded in Suriname. We tried for 3 years to come to the USA, but after $8,000, we were eventually denied for a long list of reasons that are almost insurmountable. Luckily Cambodian immigration has eased and I can now return to reunite with them because I finally have a visa.

I hope that you can fulfill all of your goals in 2022, and I hope Hive can be a part of that.

Yes, we were waiting for almost 2 years now for the embassy here in Phil to re open since Covid happen. I also join Visa journey forum and thankfully a few already got an interview schedule, we were very hopeful to be next. 🙏

That was a long wait but worth it. I'm glad you can be with them now 🙂
