THE LIFE OF A HIGH SCHOOL GAMBLER.....

The academical journey was not that easy for me, i had a lot of challenges regarding friends and girls...
I come from a family where education is a top most priority, my parents makes sure no matter how hard it can get, their children should never miss the opportunity of been learned...

I can say that it is almost all parents that wants their children to study and become someone grate in the future, school for me was a very beautiful place to be because of my friends and also some other activities we do makes me find schooling fun...

In school some people are known for one of this things, it is either you are stubborn and playful or you are the studious type but for me it is very different for me and when i say different it means it goes a long way..

I was known for all three when i was in school, i was stubborn, playful and also studious at the same time, i was able to scale through because i know when to do my things, i work with time while doing my things in school...
There is an allocated time for playing and when it comes to examination or an impromptu test, i am always ready for it at all time...

I don't joke with reading and studying expecially when examination is around the corner... I am almost all teachers favorite because no matter the category, i am in either one or all of them, the playful, stubborn and studious ones and no matter how hard i play i am always conscious of my uniform because i see it as the image of my school and i have to protect it at all cost and i stick to the rules but not all the time but i don't disrespect my teachers irrespective of how playful and stubborn i am...

I was never proud with my knowledge and things i do to my friends in school isn't to mock them but to prepare them for what lies ahead, they have to learn how to be independent and if i continue to feed them my knowledge when will they learn how to work on their own, and with me doing that sometimes has made my friends and i fight a lot and it is now they understand me and are thankful for what i did back then...

               GAMBLING 

The above act was that one thing i did that got me into a serious trouble, i was never a part of the gambling squad before, though i have friends who gamble a lot and others who don't but make outside betting on the winning party, i have warned my friends several times to stop it but they didn't listen and i went on like that, they started gambling when we were all in SS1 but when we got to SS3 first term i was then among them...

I was not the kind of person who would go into such act, the first rules of the school was:

                 "NO GAMBLING OF ANY SORT WITHIN THE SCHOOL PREMISES"

They all ignored the rules and continued gambling secretly, they just stake with a small amount and at the end of the day they win a large amount of money

When i talk about small stakes, they all stake #50 and #100 with up to 8 players while the financially capable ones stake #200 and after about five to six rounds they win a large amount of money while the other party looses, it continued like until a day came where my friend won #3800 from gambling with just a #100 stake and upon telling me i was shocked and the same time happy because my friend will give me a cut out of it...

After a while of observing how the game is played, it is either they use DICE or play WHOT, it is either of the two, i am a very good whot player...
My friend continuous winning made me tempted to join but i was controlling myself until the day when i couldn't pay for my lesson fee and i had to try my luck by GAMBLING with the money i borrowed from my friend...

My friends have been gambling but they have never been caught but my case was different, i played with a stake of #100 and roll the dices it came up with "DOUBLE SIX" while others didn't get up to that number and i won #1000, i felt so good and i was drawn into it after winning big, at the end of the day, i went home with#3000 and that was how i joined the gang, i was happy with my winning after a #100 stake..

I joined the gang and started playing until nemesis caught up with us, that day we were all drawn with the winning and forgot that it was past the break time and while arguing the principal caught all 12 of us in the lab with all the visible evidences in his front...

We were all taken out of the class and he called an emergency assembly and we were all made to stand before the whole school, we were all laid on the table and flogged 15 lashes of cane, on getting to my turn, i was running all round the school that i wasn't among them and my friends knew i was scared of cain but we had this tight bond , we take fall for one another and that was how my friend came to my rescue, he wasn't playing that day because i took his place, while trying to catch me he told the principal i wasn't among them and that i was a mere looker and that it was his turn to play but he ran away before he could get caught...

The principal gave me punishment and told me to write an apology letter to the school stating my offense and apologising while my friends were all suspended for a week with them coming with their parent the following week...

That was how my friends saved me and i was grateful to the others for not countering his confession when he was fighting for me. The following week my friends resumed and i was happy that they were back and i thanked them for helping me out that day and we all laughed and became closer since then taking fall for each other but we stopped gambling in the school premises but we do it sometimes at home, they all wrote apology letter to the school and all was settled, the principal installed a camera in that part of the school to monitor us and we put an end to the gambling act...

In conclusion, that was how i survived and escaped the criticism, shame, taunts, embarasment and punishment from all and it was all thanks to my friend...
A big shout out to my friend Ismail, Dayo, Tunmise, Folu, Rotimi, Alo, Khaleel and James for saving me that day....
