God omniscience!

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; he calls them all by name.

Text: Psalm 147:3.4.

At first sight one might think that there is no connection between these two verses. However, it is the very order of these verses that gives us courage. We might think that we were of no significance for God among the milllions of people. Yet He reminds us that He knows each one of the much greater number of the stars.

Dear reader, you are not only of statistical importance for God: He not only knows your name, but also the innermost state of your soul, which no-one in your neighbourhood understands or even imagines. And what troubles your heart He feels deeply.

Now that is not all. Your greatest need is your guilt before God, which has caused a deep abyss between Him and yourself, so that you cannot really trust His goodness and rather chafe under your mental strain. God knows all that you wish you could undo and that is a heavy burden to you. Yet He has not written you off. Although He should condemn you in His holiness, His love can and would dearly save you, if only you wish it.

“God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

That is God’s bridge over the abyss, which you can take to reach Him. As soon as you confess your debt of guilt sincerely before Him in prayer, He will forgive you, for another One, Christ, paid it. The weight will be taken from you, because the supreme Judge has pronounced you free.
🙏🏽Almighty God, help us to trust you wholeheartedly and always look unto you for safety and Providence in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
