(ENG/SPA) Quality vs Quantity: UFOTABLE The Philosophy of an Animation Studio
Cuando se escribe un relato en el caso de los escritores o cuando se dibuja una historia en el caso del mangaka, ese medio sirve para transmitir lo que hay en nuestra imaginación, pienso muchos de nosotros que disfrutamos del mundo del anime en algún momento hemos hecho un dibujo, tal vez un garabato en el caso de los que no tenemos mucha habilidad dibujando pero es uno que trata de dar vida a lo que hay en nuestras mentes porque el objetivo es que otros lo puedan ver y disfrutar.
Esto lo ejecutan a nivel profesional los estudios de animación que en el caso del Anime hay muchos ejemplos, en este caso quiero hablar de UFOTABLE el cual tiene una filosofía de trabajo que llama la atención de muchos quienes observamos y tenemos curiosidad mas allá de solo las obras, siempre hay reseñas, siempre hay productos de que hablar pero estos no llegan solos a la pantalla y poco se habla de los estudios de animación.
When a story is written in the case of writers or when a story is drawn in the case of the mangaka, that medium serves to convey what is in our imagination, I think many of us who enjoy the world of anime at some point we have made a drawing, maybe a scribble in the case of those who do not have much drawing skill but it is one that tries to give life to what is in our minds because the goal is that others can see it and enjoy it.
This is done at a professional level by animation studios that in the case of Anime there are many examples, in this case I want to talk about UFOTABLE which has a work philosophy that draws the attention of many who observe and are curious beyond just the works, there are always reviews, there are always products to talk about but these do not reach the screen alone and little is said about animation studios.
Su Filosofía Profesional es CALIDAD por encima de la CANTIDAD, recientemente he visto el anime Kimetsu no Yaiba y estudiando mas allá de lo que siempre se reseña que es su historia, he tenido la grata oportunidad de conocer un poco sobre el estudio de animación que la realiza el cual es Ufotable y grande es mi sorpresa al ver que ellos animaron Fate Zero, yo vi esa historia hace muchos años y el pensamiento que vino a mi mente fue "Con razón la calidad de la animación es impecable, pulcra, fluida... es arte".
Definitivamente quise conocer mas de ese estudio y es lo que traigo a la comunidad, mis pensamientos sobre su filosofía que esta marcada en su trabajo desde inicio de los 2000, para esto planteare mi opinión desde tres puntos de vista que son los siguientes.
- Llevar a su máximo Potencial un Producto:
Este es el aspecto de mayor peso y en el cual estoy de acuerdo con Ufotable al usar la estrategia empresarial de Calidad por encima de la Cantidad ya que esto tarde o temprano te hace resaltar, solo necesitas una obra con buena historia como es el caso de Fate Stay Night y eso impulsara tu empresa porque los grandes te verán y querrán trabajar contigo.
Luego de ver su forma de pensar, su ideal filosófico, yo mismo me digo que si tuviera una obra, si tuviera una historia la cual quisiera llevar a anime, Ufotable es el estudio de animación que elegiría porque sé que no solo van a cumplir mis expectativas, ellos inclusive llevaran mi arte a otro nivel, uno que permitirá a otros conocer con la mayor calidad lo que nació en mi imaginación.
Their Professional Philosophy is QUALITY over QUANTITY, recently I have seen the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba and studying beyond what is always reviewed which is its story, I have had the pleasant opportunity to know a little about the animation studio that makes it which is Ufotable and great is my surprise to see that they animated Fate Zero, I saw that story many years ago and the thought that came to my mind was "No wonder the quality of the animation is impeccable, neat, fluid ... is art".
I definitely wanted to know more about that studio and that is what I bring to the community, my thoughts about their philosophy that is marked in their work since the early 2000's, for this I will raise my opinion from three points of view which are as follows.
- To take a product to its maximum potential:
This is the aspect of greater weight and in which I agree with Ufotable to use the business strategy of Quality over Quantity because this sooner or later makes you stand out, you only need a work with a good story as is the case of Fate Stay Night and that will boost your company because the big ones will see you and want to work with you.
After seeing their way of thinking, their philosophical ideal, I tell myself that if I had a work, if I had a story that I wanted to take to anime, Ufotable is the animation studio I would choose because I know that they will not only meet my expectations, they will even take my art to another level, one that will allow others to know with the highest quality what was born in my imagination.
- Innovando junto a la Tecnología y nuevas Técnicas de Animación:
Al ser un estudio con pocos trabajos en su agenda, esto da libertad a sus artistas para que jueguen profesionalmente con nuevas tecnologías, así como técnicas de animación que mejoren no solo la calidad visual del anime, también su dinámica porque de nada sirve tener un fotograma bien elaborada con una cantidad inimaginable de capas si no hay la fluidez de los movimientos.
Al estudiar este estudio de animación, leo gratamente que aplican esto desde sus inicios en los 2000, claro al ser novatos en la industria, los productos a animar no eran los mas llamativos pero es de profesionales ver a cada obra a animar igual para así poder entregar lo mejor, esto es lo que hacen desde esas fechas incorporando los recursos tecnológicos necesarios mas la inventiva del animador y sobre todo respetándola, hay que dejar trabajar a los animadores.
Por esto es que Fate Stay Night y Kimetsu no Yaiba son animes tan bien estimados por los fans, su look visual plus su dinámica en momentos de pelea importantes quedan en lo mas alto del Olimpo anime.
- Innovating with Technology and new Animation Techniques:
Being a studio with few works in their schedule, this gives freedom to their artists to play professionally with new technologies, as well as animation techniques that improve not only the visual quality of the anime, also its dynamics because it is useless to have a well elaborated frame with an unimaginable amount of layers if there is no fluidity of movements.
When studying this animation studio, I read pleasantly that they apply this since their beginnings in the 2000's, of course being new in the industry, the products to animate were not the most striking but it is of professionals to see each work to animate the same in order to deliver the best, this is what they do since those dates incorporating the necessary technological resources plus the inventiveness of the animator and above all respecting it, you have to let the animators work.
This is why Fate Stay Night and Kimetsu no Yaiba are anime so well esteemed by fans, their visual look plus their dynamics in important fighting moments remain at the top of the anime Olympus.
- Cumplir con la Agenda:
Este es el punto a criticar del estudio porque sinceramente quisiera que tuvieran mas trabajos a su cargo porque se que los pueden manejar a la vez que mantienen el estándar o filosofía de calidad que predican.
Respeto su raciocinio para no dejarse llevar por el aspecto dinero porque los resultados demuestran que su modo de pensar es el correcto, solo vean lo que causa Kimetsu No Yaiba en el mundo, los demás estudios matarían por tener un producto así a su cargo que equivale a 100 productos en cuanto al poder de atracción de audiencia se refiere pero si algo a ayudado a que ese anime mantenga cautiva esa audiencia es precisamente la animación.
No es sacar productos como si de carne molida se tratara para tratar de vender en una carnicería, se trata de dar lo mejor del anime pero claro esto hace que para la elaboración de uno se tarde años, es allí la consecuencia que nosotros como espectadores debemos cargar y es la espera, el tiempo que puede ser años para que se desarrolle un anime en este estudio, por ejemplo Fate Zero se acepto en 2007 y no fue hasta 2011 que nació... pero vaya que valió la pena esperar.
Dedicado todos y cada uno de mis post y videos a mi perrita llamada princesa que la llamábamos chiquito que ya no está con nosotros pero desde el cielo verá que su existencia SI fue valiosa y lo más hermoso que existirá en mi corazón y alma.
- Complying with the Agenda:
This is the point to criticize the studio because I sincerely wish they had more jobs to handle because I know they can handle them while maintaining the quality standard or philosophy they preach.
I respect their reasoning for not getting carried away by the money aspect because the results show that their way of thinking is the right one, just look at what Kimetsu No Yaiba is causing in the world, the other studios would kill to have a product like this in their charge that is equivalent to 100 products in terms of audience attraction power, but if something has helped this anime to keep that audience captive is precisely the animation.
It is not about making products as if they were ground meat to try to sell in a butcher shop, it is about giving the best of anime but of course this makes it take years for the development of one, it is there the consequence that we as viewers must bear and it is the wait, the time that can be years for an anime to be developed in this studio, for example Fate Zero was accepted in 2007 and it was not until 2011 that it was born ... but it was worth the wait.
I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

To a good soundtrack and story, we add a good animation studio haha for the aesthetic side of the animation attracts a lot to the viewer, although I've wathced anime with a brutal animation but a weak argument and vice versa.
My favorite animation studio is Kyoto Animation, but there are many like this one that do an impeccable job and you can tell they want quality over quantity. If an anime you are looking forward to is animated by one of these studios, rest assured that you will not be disappointed haha
Although it is a big budget and it takes a long time to achieve this level of animation, but the success to come is more than evident 👌👀

I absolutely adore the quality of this animation studio. One of the first things that caught my attention about Kimetsu No Yaiba was precisely the details and amazing quality of the animation. It's absolutely incredible.

I think UFOTable as a company is fascinating. They are one of the few that exclusively focuses on Digital Animation and complicated compositions. The only other one I know of off the top of my head that is still active but primarily a support studio is Sanzigen. Thanks for the write up
