Las historias que vemos sobre Colombia, no tienen que inventar mucho, es un país en que realmente ha pasado por momentos duros y que de alguna manera nos permite conocer muchos lados de sus acontecimientos pasados. En este título basado en un libro del mismo nombre, del autor Hector Abad, es una historia autobiográfica, que narra principalmente la vida de su padre, del mismo nombre, una persona comprometida con los derechos humanos. La cinta la dirigió Fernando Trueba y fue estrenada en el año 2020.

The stories we see about Colombia, do not have to invent much, it is a country that has really gone through hard times and that somehow allows us to know many sides of its past events. In this title based on a book of the same name, by author Hector Abad, is an autobiographical story, which mainly narrates the life of his father, of the same name, a person committed to human rights. The film was directed by Fernando Trueba and was released in 2020.

La historia muestra diferentes tiempos desde 1971, en Medellín, Colombia. En ello veremos a una familia con muchas hijas y un único hijo, Hector Abad. A través de sus ojos, veremos el día a día de su familia pero principalmente de su padre Hector Abad Gomez, un médico que enseña medicina en una universidad local, una persona especialmente comprometida con el desarrollo de la salud pública y los derechos humanos, algo que poco a poco le traerá enemigos y resistencia en varios frentes.

The story shows different times from 1971, in Medellin, Colombia. In it we will see a family with many daughters and an only son, Hector Abad. Through his eyes, we will see the day to day life of his family but mainly of his father Hector Abad Gomez, a doctor who teaches medicine at a local university, a person especially committed to the development of public health and human rights, something that will gradually bring him enemies and resistance on several fronts.

La cinta muestra mucho de la vida de Héctor Abad Gomez hasta el trágico desenlace. En ello veremos 2 lados de la película, por una lado las historias de la familia y en el otro, la lucha que se da por la salud pública. Es una cinta que hace una oda al padre, mostrando su carácter y su férrea lucha por hacer y decir lo que cree. A su vez, muestra las vivencias de una familia acomodada de esas décadas, teniendo sus propios problemas más allá de los que genera la política. La película logra atraparte en los hechos que narra, haciendo que su larga duración acabe pasando rápido.

The film shows much of the life of Hector Abad Gomez until the tragic end. In it we will see 2 sides of the film, on the one hand the stories of the family and on the other, the struggle for public health. It is a film that makes an ode to the father, showing his character and his fierce struggle to do and say what he believes in. At the same time, it shows the experiences of a well-to-do family of those decades, having their own problems beyond those generated by politics. The film succeeds in trapping you in the events it narrates, making its long duration pass quickly.

En la actuación, me gusto la del padre Hector Abad, realizada por Javier Cámara y resalto la de Hector Abad niño, Nicolas Reyes Cano, que no desentona para nada en los momentos que sale en cámara. La escenificación también es otro punto bueno, con trajes, escenarios y objetos que reflejan los 70’s y 80’s de Medellín.

In the acting, I liked the performance of father Hector Abad, performed by Javier Camara and I highlight the performance of the child Hector Abad, Nicolas Reyes Cano, who does not dissapear at all in the moments he is on camera. The staging is also another good point, with costumes, scenery and objects that reflect the 70's and 80's in Medellin.

Es un título que recomiendo si te interesa ver historias costumbristas, mientras narra la historia de una persona comprometida con lo que piensa.

It is a title that I recommend if you are interested in watching costumbrist stories, while telling the story of a person committed to what he thinks.
