Es difícil imaginar situaciones reales como el de un secuestro o un atentado, especialmente si ocurre en lugares poco habituales, pero para eso está el cine, que nos permite ponernos en la piel de los protagonistas y sentir sus emociones. En la película Capitán Phillips, veremos el caso biográfico de un ataque de piratas somalíes a un barco, el Maersk Alabama, en el 2009. El título fue estrenado el 2013, dirigido por Paul Greengrass, con la actuación protagónica de Tom Hanks.

It is difficult to imagine real situations such as that of a hijacking or an attack, especially if it happens in unusual places, but that is what cinema is for, allowing us to put ourselves in the protagonists' shoes and feel their emotions. In the film Captain Phillips, we will see the biographical case of an attack by Somali pirates on a ship, the Maersk Alabama, in 2009. The title was released in 2013, directed by Paul Greengrass, starring Tom Hanks.

Richard Phillips está al mando del Maersk Alabama, barco de carga, en una travesía desde Omán hasta Mombasa. Lamentablemente al pasar cerca de las costas somalíes, se encuentra a merced de los piratas de la zona. La historia contará los pormenores, el ataque y abordaje de los piratas, los entresijos en el barco, la trata de rehenes y la disolución final.

Richard Phillips is in command of the Maersk Alabama, a cargo ship, on a voyage from Oman to Mombasa. Unfortunately, as he passes close to the Somali coast, he finds himself at the mercy of the pirates in the area. The story will tell the ins and outs, the pirates' attack and boarding, the problems on the ship, hostage trade and final dissolution.

La cinta tiene un tono dramático y hasta cierto punto de acción, es vibrante y emocionante. Te permite conocer mucho de los protocolos que sigue un capitán ante un ataque de piratas, así como la reacción de la marina y otros organismos. Entre lo mejor, a mi parecer, están las escenas del abordaje de los piratas, desde cómo se busca evitarlos hasta el inevitable secuestro. Los momentos finales también me parecieron emocionantes, al ver cual seria la disolución final, entre un final pacifico o no.

The film is dramatic in tone and to some extent action packed, vibrant and exciting. It gives you a lot of insight into the protocols a captain follows in the face of a pirate attack, as well as the reaction of the navy and other agencies. Among the best, in my opinion, are the scenes of the pirate boarding, from the avoidance of the pirates to the inevitable hijacking. The final moments also seemed exciting to me, to see what would be the final dissolution, between a peaceful ending or not.

La actuación de Tom Hanks y de los piratas, es espléndida. Entre los piratas destacó a Barkhad Abdi y Faysal Ahmed, que realizan un gran papel mostrando la furia, la necesidad de dar órdenes y otras emociones. Tom Hanks por su parte, muestra al capitán que intenta por todos los medios mantenerse en control e intentar sobrellevar la situación en la que se encuentra. Es una película que tiene muchas escenas en el agua, desarrolladas de excelente manera, todas muy realistas; a su vez, hay un buen trabajo de sonidos y soundtrack, que acompañan los dramáticos sucesos.

The performance of Tom Hanks and the pirates is splendid. Among the pirates, Barkhad Abdi and Faysal Ahmed stand out, who play a great role showing the fury, the need to give orders and other emotions. Tom Hanks for his part, shows the captain who tries by all means to stay in control and try to cope with the situation in which he finds himself. It is a film that has many scenes in the water, developed in an excellent way, all very realistic; at the same time, there is a good work of sounds and soundtrack, which accompany the dramatic events.

Muy recomendable, si te interesa conocer un caso real de ataque de piratas actuales, y quieres verla en una cinta intensa.
