My Generation

Looking at my generation, the so called leaders of tomorrow, all I see is no tomorrow. The way the bad is rapidly overcoming the good is so alarming and even more shocking that no one is talking about it or rather still, those talking aren’t loud enough.

My neighbor who moved out few months ago was famous in the hostel as an internet fraudster, he had made so much from it that he moved to a three bedroom flat somewhere in the rich part of town. Few days ago, we heard the news that he had gotten himself a car and that was when a conversation broke out between me and my friends.

We discussed about how he had made a lot of money from the illegal work he does and instead of my friends to criticize the work he does like I thought they would, I found them wishing they were in his shoes. It turned out that majority of them doesn’t even care how to make the money, they just want the money.

I immediately voiced how I feel what he’s doing is very wrong and he could end up spending a lot of time behind bars if caught and they all turned on me, calling various names like “Holy man, Man of God and the Pope”. It became so obvious that what I was saying wasn’t what they all wanted to hear so I did what I felt was best and safe for me, I kept my mouth shut. I didn’t want to stand up and walk away immediately because that would give the impression that I was upset or no longer wanted to associate with them no more so I waited for a while before getting up to leave.

And those few minutes while I sat down there and listened to the youths of my generation, all I kept thinking about was the parents of this young lads who think that their children are in school, their noses buried in their books not knowing that they were all looking for a way to make money, a quick way.

I’m not trying to give the impression that I’m a saint, but one promise that I made to my dad and my mom (may her soul Rest In Peace) was that I would never become a fraudster. The thought of duping people just so I could put food on my table would never ever cross my mind.

karma is real, people may scam others to live a good life but they will surely pay for it right here on earth, their today may be rosy but their tomorrow will be miserable....they lost their conscience..

True man.. They’ve all lost their conscience. Most of them don’t even see what they’re doing as bad anymore, they no longer feel a thing for their victims.
