Money changes people and that’s a fact that I’ve come to believe after witnessing it firsthand twice. It doesn’t necessarily make them a bad person, it just brings out that part of them you never knew existed, I think it’s safe to say it’s brings out who they truly are.

You see, I used to think that if you’re kind to people then people have no choice but to be kind to you too but in real life, that is not true. People do whatever it is they want to do irrespective of how you treated them before. If they are good people, they most probably would do you good and if they were just pretending to be good all this time, they will show you shege, which is simply another way of saying you’re fucked.

Like I said, I’ve witnessed the “money changes people” quote twice now and the most recent one is what has prompted me to make this post. No one is entitled to another person’s money, if it’s not yours then it’s not. But there are certain people we would never expect to behave in a certain way or manner simply because their financial status is far more better than it used to be.

I used to tell my friends that maybe the reason God hasn’t blessed them yet is because he has seen what they will become if they became rich, that obviously was a joke but it doesn’t look like it anymore.

But at the end of it all, I pray we all become wealthy enough that we won’t have to depend on anyone for anything to avoid “see finish” (another Nigerian slang which simply means to avoid getting humiliated).

Like people use to say, life is a lesson and we learn everyday. I just learnt something, something that will be staying with me for a very very long time. And that thing is, it doesn’t always pay to be good.

I also totally agree and I've been through this too. I was betrayed by my friend for money and some of my friends have shown the same. However, I have the perception that not all my friends are like that. I once met a friend who had a lot of money but he liked to help people in need and do social activities with the money he had. so I have to be good at choosing friends who can be friends when it's hard and happy. not when he's just happy. but he will help in all circumstances.

Very useful article for me.

Yup. Not everyone changes when they come in contact with good money, that's why they say money doesn't change you, it brings out your real character.

that's my brother. Your story in poting really inspires me in choosing friends in the future. not just friends who come when they have money but friends who can accept us as we are. Thank you my brother.

People can be so deep and you only get to know what they are capable of when they have power and money.
Sometimes being good does not guarantee goodness from other people.
Some people do not see it that way.
The most important thing is when we are capable to do good fine go ahead
Never let people change you.

Very true.

If we behave based on how people treat us, then most of us won't be good people.
