MY BOSS'S PROCRASTINATION AND CONSEQUENCES

source

Hello, Hive Ghanaian community member. This is my first time posting in this community, and I'd like to share some of my life experiences and thoughts.

I work as a fashion designer, and there were four of us learning how to operate sewing machines and create clothing. My boss is a very kind man who always shared the workload among us. He also shared some of his earnings with us, which was generous.

However, my boss had a particular character trait that sometimes caused problems. When he accepted a sewing job with a deadline, he often procrastinated until the last moment to start working on it. This led to occasional disappointments for customers and their subsequent frustration.

One day, close to Christmas, my boss's long-time friend named Evis visited. They discussed life, work, and family. Evis expressed his desire to have clothes made for himself and his children for Christmas. They went shopping for fabric together, selecting beautiful materials. They returned to our store.

Evis brought his three children, and my boss measured them all. He promised to deliver the clothes in time for Christmas, and Evis trusted him. Meanwhile, another customer came to our store to order clothes for himself, which my boss accepted. Later, a man named Mr. Jeffrey arrived, requesting outfits for himself and his five children. I was surprised that my boss took on these additional orders so close to Christmas, fearing that someone would be disappointed.

My boss started with Mr. Jeffrey's order and completed it along with the outfit for the other customer. Just two days before Christmas, he finally began working on his friend Evis's order, explaining to us that he needed to prioritize due to the workload.

On watchnight day (Christmas Eve), Evis came to collect his clothes but was dismayed to find them incomplete. My boss explained that he had other orders before Evis's. Evis left, angry, but my boss reassured him with jokes. Evis returned in the morning, paid for the clothes, and took them. My boss then gathered us, rewarded us with some money, and we all went home.

I initially thought my boss was the only one with this procrastination character, but I noticed I was starting to exhibit the same behavior. I once delayed a simple school uniform sewing task, almost missing the deadline. I decided to complete any task given to me promptly to avoid causing unnecessary stress in my life.
