You probably see that name all over the newscast today about this billionaire giving his company away to fight climate change. He is 83 so he doesn't want to be bothered to own a private company anymore. His two kids have no interest to own the company as well. Even though they work for the company. Trying to understand this story you need to understand this family has no issue with money.
They have issue owning the company and be seen as billionaire.

First thing I quickly understand there is an amount you need to survive for the rest of your life. I am pretty sure Mr. Yvon only get rid of the company ownership but he is still a wealthy person. The company was making just profit per year around $100 million. You can see why it could be troublesome to see a few own billion while many of this world are sufferings. I hope they can try to use that fund and help others but it is not that simple to do with the bureaucracies out there.

While it is hard for many to just give away a company, you may have other ways to put that company profit to good use. The plan they put in place has to do with fighting climate change. This is a great behavior knowing this is not one billionaire issue, this is a world issue. IF I ask you what will you do with that money?, you would have a million project in place.

I bet you would say I will invest in crypto. Looking around the main problem of this world has nothing to do with financial freedom or anything concerning money. It has a lot to do with greed or lack of opportunity for many. It is always the extreme wherever you are in the world. I applaud his gesture to first keep the company running, second keep the company private and third give profit to a cause that can put a dent to the problem of the world cause by human greed.

When you read his move, you can think of other move you would have done. Do not forget you have to be a wealthy to make a move like that. While many of us have to stay put everyday to make hands meet, this reasoning would be a tough one to pass. Gladly money does not bring joy, it helps to enjoy life better. If there is one positive patch to this story, it elevate the human spirit to give back. As long you give you should feel whole within yourself and keep the pledge going forward.

While it sounds like he's doing a good thing on the surface, I can't help but be a little skeptical about where the profits will actually go.

Let's hope the money is truly put to good use.
