A Visit To The Bonsai And Suiseki Championship Show
The bigger bonsai are displayed outside of
La Promenade at the car park area.

The lobby of La Promenade is filled with
hundreds of bonsai
Bonsai is pronounced as "bon-sigh."
I find it incredible that bonsai trees are
actually, just regular trees that have been
trained to be miniature.
Bonsai are usually made from trees that have naturally small leaves or needles, like pine
and juniper.
A bonsai's lifespan can be as long as
100 years!
A lot of hard work must have been put into
creating this masterpiece.
I must say that I am very impressed that this
miniature tree has all the characteristics of
a normal tree except for the reduced
dimensions.
This is the suiseki section of the show. I must admit that looking at stones is less interesting compared to the marvelous bonsai.
_I had an enjoyable time admiring all
masterpieces. _
The word "Bonsai" means "placed in a little container" in Japanese. This art form is based on an old Chinese horticulture tradition that dates back to the Tang dynasty and was reinvented under the influence of Japanese Zen. The art form has existed for more than a thousand years.
The Japanese word "suiseki" means "water stone." Suiseki is a term used to describe organically shaped stones or rocks that are collected and valued for their aesthetic attributes.
I went to the Bonsai And Suiseki Championship Show a few months back, and it was amazing!
The show is organized by Sarawak Bonsai Association, and it was held in La Promenade Mall, Kuching. Entries were received from all over Sarawak, many of them transported by road to Kuching.
The competition was divided into different categories depending on the size of the plant. There were some really big ones—some of these trees were so large that they must have been quite old. It was incredible to see how much care and attention goes into creating these beautiful works of art.
There were also lots of beautiful smaller plants, too—I saw some bonsais that were only a few years old and already looked like masterpieces.
This competition was also an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and receive recognition for their talent. In addition, there were also stalls selling bonsai tools and accessories like pots and stands as well as suiseki stones
It's interesting how some people choose to style their bonsais—there are several different ways to do it, but each one has its own effect on the shape and appearance of the tree (and sometimes even the tree itself). I loved seeing how different people approached styling their trees in different ways.
It was fascinating to see how each tree had been shaped and trained over time to produce a unique shape and form. And they looked so beautiful sitting there on display!
