Tis the season to...

Curl up into a blanket and wait for warmer days!

Happy holidays everyone! I hope you're all doing okay and staying warm and such. Do you have anything lined up for the holidays? Family dinners? Hiding in corners? Brisk winter walks? Staying inside with a hot cup of plant-based chocolate milk?

We're having a fairly modest holiday this year. My inlaws didn't have anything planned, which means our first day of Christmas is ours. We'll be staying indoors, gaming and eating leftover meals out of the freezer. Very holiday-like!

Like every year, it's my brother's birthday the second day of Christmas, which means, like every year, that day is reserved for my family. We've had birthday celebrations when he was young, we've had family dinners at mum's when he left us alone to be in Sweden and last year, we've had an actual birthday visit to him. A small one, because of Covid stuff. This year will be like the last.

Tomorrow, mum's coming over and the three of us will be driving over to my brother for his birthday and a nice Christmas dinner. Mum brings the soup, I bring the dessert and my brother will cook the main dishes. He's really doing his best to veganize most of it, so that's super nice!

I had bought him a snack box filled with nuts and then mum told me he doesn't like nuts. Oops! So I claimed part of that box for myself (the chocolates) and will use the nuts as a gift for my dad and his wife (I'm not selfish... They can't have added sugars, so they can't have the chocolate. I can. Yum!). So, instead of the gift box, I told my brother to pick a game from the Pizza game shop and gave him that for his birthday.

It's a cold couple of days this Christmas. All of the days surrounding it will be warmer, as in, not freezing. Kinda sucky that on the days a lot of people drive around to family, there is all of this freezing going on. Oh well!

I don't like this freezing weather. First of all, it's too cold for me outside. But the main reason right now is that our stand-alone garage with no isolation whatsover has a faucet in it. One I don't know how to switch off. So in order to avoid that darn thing from freezing and cracking its pipes, I have to run an extra space heater. Such a waste of energy and money. And with my lack of energy, I was quite happy I finally managed to e-mail an all-round handyman to help me out with this stuff... only to then be ignored. So now, I have to find a new one to hopefully help me find out how to shut the darn faucet off, or just get rid of the thing alltogether.

Oh the woes of a burned out lady.

In other news, hubby has two weeks off now! I am so happy for him. He really needs this time to recharge. We have a couple of family days planned during these weeks, but most days, he can just sit at home, gaming all day long.

Okay, that's it for now. I hope you're all doing well!

Merry Christmas!!

Beautiful Photos! I hope you find someone to help with the water pipe!!

Does the pipe take water from your house? If so there should be a shut-off valve in your basement. Check the walls that face the garage for any pipes coming in and see if they have a lever or small wheel that turns on it.

Stay safe!!

Thank you @snook, merry Christmas!

Thanks for the suggestion! The pipe probably takes water from the house, but whereas I can easily find the valve to shut off the outside faucet, the one in the garage is a different story. We did find a few other valves, but they look pretty old and hubby's afraid we might cause them to leak if we try them 😅
I'm sure we'll find some help eventually!
