Travel Digest #1819

Introduction

Hello everyone! This is @ybanezkim26 and I'll be presenting today's edition of #TravelDigest. In our featured posts, we have a temple in Bangkok, Thailand, a lake in Chile, and a view of the Aurora borealis in Iceland. Enjoy! This is probably one of the most difficult curation schedules that I've encountered. There are so many good posts! I'm so sorry to those I initially deemed worthy to be in the honorable mentions, but I had to drop them later when there are so many in this digest. This is how difficult curating travel posts is.

All featured posts are visible on the Editors Choice Map and upvoted by @pinmapple, @blocktrades, @theycallmedan and the curation trail. For more travel digests check out #traveldigest.

Our winners today 🍍

🥇 Wandering Tales of Exploring Bangkok : Beyond The Tourist Trail by @macchiata

If you are into art, Wat Suthat is also the place to go. The stunning murals inside of it were painted with a unique technique and also it is considered the largest in the country depicting mythical legends of Thailand . It’s unfortunate that I didn't find a tour guide for this temple because I am sure it would have been amazing to learn the murals of the temple and its significance from the locals instead finding it out by some research on the internet.

🥈 Visiting Chungarà Lake, the highest lake in the world 😵 by @aurzeq

Lake Chungará is surrounded by volcanoes, other smaller lakes, and wild animals like llamas and flamingos. We had a beautiful day there. Nice sunny weather. Next to the Bolivian border, Lake Chungará is the highest lake in Chile and the world. You can’t navigate in it like you can in Titicaca lake in Bolivia. But this latter lake does not hit 4000 meters above sea level.

🥉 The Land of Fire and Ice: Part 8: Ghosts of the Galaxy (Northern Lights!) by @seangold

From there we made our way to Hofn, found our campground, checked in, and made possibly the biggest decision of the trip, even though we didn't know it yet. We decided to go to the famous epic beach even though it was night time to check it out. So we drive over and then find out to go to the beach you have to pay because it's actually private. At this point, we've seen a little bit of Aroura in the distance, and figure we're already here an might as well. So we paid the 5$ or so to head down the road to the beach.

Awesome post about the famous Stonehenge. It's been in the history books I've read in school.
